Dalwhinnie

Dalwhinnie

Moonambel Shiraz 2013

Complex, developed aromas of black and red fruit, with some aniseed. Palate still vibrantly youthful, with a tight core of black fruit and refined, restrained tannin structure. Years ahead of it still, ageing surprisingly slowly. One more bottle in the cellar for 5-10 years’ time. — a month ago

Distillers Edition Single Highland Malt 2012

1st of the flight. A nice palate opener. Not complex but a nice starter to the tasting. This is the Distillers version which they say is better than the 15 but not as good as the 25. — 5 years ago

With Chung-tung at Xiao Long Bao restaurant. Pale straw color. Hay and cloves, reminiscent of Dalwhinnie a bit. Salty tang toward the end. — 10 years ago

Suntory

AO Blend of five Major Whiskies

More delicate palate compared with the traditional brand offerings, elegant and graceful like Dalwhinnie, but in the Suntory style.
Very smooth, too easy to enjoy 😉

Was wondering about this one. Picked it up at Costco and am assuming it’s a relatively new release?

Young Australian Shiraz up against modern hipster Australian Shiraz and some awesome Rhones. This stood out stylistically from the others so much that I think everyone picked it out of the blind flight. Rich classic Shira character without going over the top with ripeness or oak. I really like this region for traditional Shiraz and look forward to trying some of these with age. — 10 years ago

Three Valleys Pinot Noir 2020

Essence of strawberry and rasberry with notes of sandalwood and spice. Very Giant Steps but with a bit more tannin. Not great p/q. Stick to your amazing shiraz boys! — 4 years ago

Triple Matured Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Vanilla and cream scent but strong peat and wood taste. Long finish. This was the malt of the month. Not too bad — 8 years ago
