Terroir de Granit St. Joseph Syrah 2019

Deep and feral. Blood and granite all over the nose, along with cracked black peppercorns and dry aged beef. Pretty large-framed for a Saint Joe on the palate. Savory, iron and granite. Still some tannin to shed. I’d thought this would be further along than it is, but it’s got promises to keep and miles to go before it sleeps. — 2 months ago

@Tegan Marriott - His name is Bandol. All my dogs since ‘83 have been named after wine. Nebbiolo, PN, Zinny, and now Bandol. He’s a rescue. The DNA report says he’s 31% Dachshund, 25% Pit Bull, and a bunch of other stuff. He’s a sweetie!

Les Vireuils Meursault Chardonnay 2007

A decent bottle that just came short in every way. Vintage issue perhaps though I would have thought it would a huge acid slap in the face. A total overspend. My bad, I had high expectations. — a month ago

@Ed Chin 9.2 is a positive score IMO. Is the price /value disappointment factoring in your score ? I came to the conclusion a long time ago that certain producers no matter how much I enjoy the wine I likely overspent. That realization always hits home if it’s a producer that I’ve been buying for a long time.

@Ira Schwartz you nailed it. Setting an expectation and not appreciating what is in front of me at the moment is only doing me a disservice. I’ll try to keep that in mind but there’s still an ouch factor when I remove a bottle from cellar tracker and see the cost.

Les Tillets Meursault Chardonnay 2015

I’ve always enjoyed this vintage from Roulot. 2015 Tillets is in a great stage now, complex and layered with butterscotch and white flower aromatics and a weighty palate with great concentration and persistence. Lovely wine. — 3 months ago
