Domaine La Pomme De Pin

L'If

Saint-Emilion 2013

Ming L
9.2

One of the Thienpont “treelogy” (along with Le Pin and L’Hêtre), this L’if from the weak 2013 vintage highlights finesse, freshness, and soft tannins rather than fruits and depth. Notes of red currant, cranberry, licorice with a distinct rusty iron, mineral edge. The medium body is elegant and finely etched, with brisk acidity and silky texture. Mineral echoes on the long finish.

100% Merlot.

Le Grand Pin Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2009

PJW 6 pack for his visit - this is OTH, definitely some funk, Paul says wasn’t kept well, but great bones, it really grew on me as it opened - smoky, a bit of cobwebs, love it. Should seek out a ‘16 — 9 months ago

Cloudy Bay

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2021

So I wanted to taste the legend of SB in NZ. The nose is great with lemon and other citrusy notes, that typical cat piss note, other herbal notes i am not able to pin. The palate is very well made with a massive acid backbone, some lemon, citrusy notes all along, a good width and some very lively mouthfeel. The finish is long and extra fresh with those citrusy notes. That's exquisite! It reminded me of some Sancerre I had — 4 years ago

First meeting of monthly wine group and everyone came to play.

Nose: areomatics draw you in with ripe dark fruit, floral, forest floor, truffles. Taste: Elegant, silky, balanced wine with cherry, smoke, toast, earth, and a medium plus plum/cedar/chocolate finish. YUM!!

Le Vieux Pin

Retouche Cabernet Syrah 2027

This wine is composed of 56% Merlot, 23% Syrah, and 21% Cabernet Franc. The longer it stayed in my glass, the better it tasted. It has pronounced aromas of dark plum, dark cherry, and blackberry, along with a hint of pepper and some spiced herbs. The wine is complex, well-rounded, and balanced, featuring smooth tannins and a long finish. — a year ago

l'Hêtre

Côtes de Bordeaux Castillon Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

2018 vintage. From the estate formerly known as Château Goubau (renamed 2016) and from the same family that brings you L’If and some wine called Le Pin. 95% Merlot. 5% Cab Franc. Really dark hue. Mint, blackberries, earth and tobacco in the nose. Medium-bodied with ample, silky tannins. The longer in the glass, the more white pepper and herbaceous flavors gain prominence. Nice QPR and will look to pick up more. Pretty now but just may be a stunner in a few years. — 5 years ago

Le Vieux Pin

Équinoxe Syrah 2016

A wonderful bottle of 100% Syrah out of the South Okanagan Valley in BC. This is a flagship wine and vintage for Le Vieux Pin. A bold wine, yet supple tannins and an extremely smooth mouth feel. Exceptionally balanced. Aromas of violets; red and black berry fruit, with baking spice, and black pepper on the palette. A stunner! — 7 months ago
