Stunning inner mouth aromas and just awesome sweet red cherry fruit. Tiny berry fruit intensity. Unreal mineral sheath. All stony. So Pommard but also so Rebourgeon. So complex. Always the woodiest as this is usually 100% new wood but it’s so well integrated at this stage and yes this aged so well. Had a 98 in summer 23 that was stunning. Nose has cocoa, vanilla, wild red cherry, spice and minerals. Needs to integrate but it’s all there. Gorgeous aromatic depth. Palate is woody and so silky with gorgeous, decadent red cherry fruit and terrific freshness. So pure and yet another brilliant William wine from 2023. So velvety and the tannins are so suave. Brilliant! Can’t wait to see how it airs. — 4 months ago

Gorgeously red fruited and boisterous nose. Red cherries all the way. Stunning stony aromas as well and unreal lift. Lots of red cherry skin as well. Terrific energy and chord progression fruit as well. Juicy, complex and very energetic and appears wide open at first but let’s see where air takes it. Wondeful acidify and freshness and lovely sour cherry fruit. Really fine and velvety tannins and I can’t believe how red fruited it is. Sweet and ripe tannins. Terrific inner mouth aromas with air and insane sweetness. A winner! Now with 7 hours of air it’s so stoney and classically Pommard. Palate is ample and juicy and super mineral with tangy red fruits. But man is this mineral. Like licking stones. — 7 months ago

I have not had in 6 years. Nose is gorgeous and brambly with huge sous bois, tiny whiff of oak, stunning spice and stoned along with some nice florals. Palate is a bit closed but super silky and not “tannin closed” like it was 6 years ago. Unreal fruit clarity and length. Air will help but great guts so far. Really classed up overnight. 9.5 to 9.6. So elegant and deep. Insanely clear fruit. — a month ago

Nose is slick red and black cherry with huge mineral background and spices Cranberry bog as well. Palate is ripe, rich and sleek with terrific inner mouth aromas and a bit of wood that needs to integrate. Juicy, pure, explosive and balanced. Lacks a bit of energy and verve but we will see what happens with air. Wow did this get stunning with air. Huge confectionary aromas and awesome palate sweetness. Purity, freshness and balance with just amazing tannins and sweetness. 9.3 to 9.5. — 5 months ago

Such a brilliant wine and it never gets old how good and how inexpensive this is. Nose is all black, red and sour cherries and super ebullient. Just amazing fruit and even some blackberry and blackberry flower. In your face fruit like this level should be. Haunting and elegant and this is giving Volnay like no other version. The nose is a 9.5. Wow!! The palate is a fruit nuke. But it’s also got energy and edge. Great acidity and minerals along side the plump fruit. Really balanced and so pure and just beautiful. Licorice on the finish and I can only expect it to open more. This is so lush and decadent on day 2. What a wine. A highlight of the vintage. — 6 months ago

Very nice premier cru Burg from beaune. I’d say fairly priced at ~$45. Nose goes on for quite a while and reveals nice red fruit with some floral and earth notes which are carried through to the palate. Great verve and finish. — 3 months ago

Gorgeous and very stoney nose. Like crushed limestone and the smoke from it being pulverized. Deep black and red cherry. Smells like a place. A place I want to be. Juicy and so energetic with glorious fruit and unreal energy and internal architecture. Unreal balance and so pure. What a wine and what a vintage for the kid. So juicy and brilliant tiny berry fruit intensity and such explosiveness. Long finish with velvety tannins and insane sweetness. So good. — 6 months ago

I adore this site. The texture is always on point. Restrained opulence is the calling card here. Nose is super complex and stoney out of the gates. Really a mess of limestone and some fresh hermes Then the intense ripe cherry leaks through. Black cherry, red cherry, sour cherry all at once. Nuclear levels of spice, stone and even some mulberry. Superb balance and energy with compelling sweetness and stoniness. Lush, plush texture that will get even more lush and plus with air. Very seductive. Oh man the tiny berry fruit intensity is off the charts. Juicy and so sweet but backed up by insane energy and stoniness. Opening by the minute. Terrific inner mouth aromas and just amazing velvety tannins. 9.5 for now but let’s see the go higher with air. — 7 months ago
