Peake Ranch

Santa Barbara County Chardonnay 2018

Fruit comes from the Sierra Madre and Peake Ranch vineyards. Medium lemon color with aromas of white flesh fruits and spicy notes. On the palate, flavors of apple and pineapple with slight citrus notes spice and lively acidity. Medium finish ending with fruit and spice. — a year ago

Tenuta Iuzzolini

Madre Goccia Crotone Greco Chardonnay 2022

Subtle sweetness on a dry white was unexpected of a southern Italian white - good thing I didn’t have to try this blind, I’d have guessed something Alsatian. That said, it was great. — 2 years ago

Tabalí

Roca Madre Malbec 2018

This time around, I have to assign a slight decrement as it just is a hair below my 93+ standard. Still great, I just think my agnosticism toward Malbec is ultimately emerging. This Chilean interpretation, however, is unique and complex.

Au Bon Climat

Sierra Madre Vineyard Chardonnay 2006

The cork looks fine, or a bit too perfect for a bottle approaching 20 years?

The nose offers classic, appealing notes of toasted hazelnut, baked apple, and faded honey for a mature Chard. However, on the palate, the fruit has receded, leaving the acidity bordering on sour.

Slightly over the hill, it’s nevertheless a good experience.

From one of the premier sites in Santa Maria Valley, this small production Chard is perfumed and bright. Nicely sculptured medium body. Lively and delicate palate.
I like the style here.
