Yes I know I should’ve waited. It’s young. You’re crazy. Blah blah. It was freaking delicious. Now I will wait on the other 4…….or maybe I won’t 🫣 — 2 years ago

500 Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Quite strong diesel notes at the beginning but soon crossed over to tropical fruits. Was maybe expecting a bit more.... — 4 years ago

Condrieu Viognier 2005

A deep golden straw color leaps from the glass with heady aromas of apricots, white peaches, dried pineapple, lilacs, vanilla, clove and a touch of flint. Densely packed, round and seamless on the palate the wine is stuffed with an array of stone and tropical fruits crossed with a racy acidity and an über long finish! — 5 years ago

S.A.S Prince Charles-Henri de Lobkowicz St. Pourçain Chardonnay Blend 2016

9.5

The inimitable Grosbot-Barbara Chardonnay Tressallier St. Pourcain blend. A favorite of mine. Nothing like it. Nose is really terrific. Like elite 1er Cru st. Aubin. Airy, mineral and so aromatically refined. Classy minerals. Really classy. This is such an elite wine. Subtle spice. Hint of framing oak. So good. Balanced and super pure. Juicy, structured, clean and electric. Rich and energetic with a knockout finish. Amazingly precise and deep. Such a brilliant wine. It’s like white burgundy crossed with Anjou Blanc. So good — 6 years ago

Summer Snow Nigori Ginjo Sake

Nicely unfiltered and raw. A touch sweet but refreshing and mouth watering at the same time. Freshly bruised fruit. As nigoris go, this is the sound an Italian chef makes when kissing their fingers. — 6 years ago

Been a while since I had this. I seem to remember it was insanely closed last time. Fingers crossed. Nose has kirsch and cassis fruit. Some spice and pepper. Dark flowers. Seems subdued. Palate is crunchy and sappy and truly electric and fresh. Such energy. Big tannins like last time but much more fruit now and will open gloriously I think as the night goes on and the election results come in. Long finish. Dynamic structure to this wine. Wonderful fruit and density. This is awesome and has come out of its shell and is firing on all cylinders. — 8 years ago

Tasted blind and the herb note I detected had me dumbfounded. It never crossed my mind it being a syrah. Nice balance and still vibrant. — 3 years ago

Aston Estate

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2014

30 min decant(little cloudy sediment). A formidable medium garnet color with some bricking. On the nose: perfumed notes of raspberry, vanilla, forest floor, and cedar. Taste: A creamy, juicy, balanced wine with red plum, smoke, touch of blueberry, minerals, earth, spicy vanilla oak, and a medium finish. Sticking pins in my Packers doll and crossing my fingers, let's see what happens. — 4 years ago

Domaine du Bel Air

Jour de Soif Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2018

Borgueils are creeping up in alcohol, as I remember this as a lighter affair in previous vintages. Still, a precocious 14$ wine, with classic cab franc dimensions but now with a thicker, richer mouthfeel. Given how Beaujo has crossed the 20$ demarcation border for some time, my go to summer mid week choice. — 6 years ago

Fingers Crossed Grenache 2017

A bright beautiful crimson ruby red in color. Nose - candied cherry, vanilla and a barnyard funk are the initial aroma scents followed by cedar, spice and florals . Taste red-black fruits, vanilla and cedar hit the palate with a mild tannic kick and notes of chocolate strawberry espresso and a long dry finish. We’ll give the next bottle a little more time to see how all its flavors come together. A big wine for sure and fun to try for the first time. — 4 years ago

Domaine Guiberteau

Saumur Chenin Blanc 2018

Absolutely stunning. This release/vintage has a lot of life left in it. I cannot wait to drink my other cellared bottle in ten years. Fresh yellow and white orchard fruits, young creamy Brie cheese, multiple layers of texture and minerality. I will literally FIGHT to continue buying upcoming vintages of Romain Guiberteau’s releases, with avid search for his small release Cabernet francs from Saumur; even Grolleaus, with fingers crossed that they will stay so affordable. Wait and see, his release prices are going to quickly climb in the coming years. — 6 years ago
