Beautiful aromatics, open, expressive showing dark cherry, cassis, mineral that is elegant, floral with pepper, spice & violet — 5 months ago
Creamy, confectioners sugar, crisp apple and pear. Structure and lovely backbone. Yum — 6 months ago
Single vineyard "Les Belles Voyes" in the famous Grand Cru hillside of Oger. Pale lemon with fine creamy mousse and tiny rapid bubble flow, long lees aging. aromas stone fruits and blossom, bread dough and citrus. On the palate flavors of golden apple, peach, lemon citrus and honeysuckle with biscuit toast and nutty notes. Long finish, full-body ending with biscuit, mineral and citrus character. Outstanding! — 5 years ago
Perhaps the best champagne I’ve ever had. Clean, crisp front and palate, apples, citrus notes. Some minerals. Love it. Well worth the extra money to celebrate the birth of our son. — 6 years ago
Toasty biscuit, tart apricot, lime zest in the bouquet. Stone fruit, cave minerals, lemon curd, hints of golden apple on the palate. Zesty bubbly that’s well balanced... Happy New Year!! — 6 years ago
Love FBalthazar’s Chaillot Cornas but never had his SS offering. I’d rather catch most SS wines in their youth to not roll the dice and get them super fresh.
Splash decanted; followed over two days.
Deep purple in the glass with hallmark Cornas aromatics…smoked meat, charcoal, dark potpourri/florals, cassis, blackberries. On the palate, the typical Cornas rusticity is more elegant, with peppered black fruits, sweet smoke, mocha, savory spices. It undoubtedly has a very “pure” profile, showing Syrah without any sort of mask. Good acid and tannin. Day two showed the mid-palate lose steam a bit, which isn’t a big surprise. Lovely bottle. If I could guarantee its evolution, this seemed like it would cruise another 7-10yrs, but who knows with SS! — a month ago
Stones and rocks on the nose to accompany ripe apple, pastry cream.
Rich, full and elegant. More open on tasting than nose suggested. A different giving creature on day 2. — 6 months ago
Violet, blackberry, licorice, and cedar. Lighter than I expected given how dark it is. — 6 months ago

Textbook Pouilly-Fume. Nose has equal proportions flinty minerality and ripe gooseberry fruit verging into orchard fruit. Zero cat pee or overly green herbal notes. Crisp in the mouth, with nice weight and balance. Some fruit up front transitions into full mineral mode by the end. Would be dynamite with grilled shrimp, but I’ll happily settle for simple sipping before dinner. Since @Delectable Wine isn’t doing locations anymore, I’ll just make believe I’m drinking this in France. — 3 months ago
A 375ml Brut I’ve had awhile. I drink primarily Extra Brut these days. While it is just over 8g dosage, it doesn’t seem as sweet as some other lower dosage Brut’s I’ve had here & there lately. Doesn’t mean I don’t wish it was less sweet.
Trying it with a little Companion Bakery-Light & Fluffy Sourdough. Sampling the Promontory Olive Oil I was gifted at the Winery Wednesday. I’ve had really good Olive Oil’s from/in Italy & Spain. Theirs holds it own nicely. Smooth with a perfect soft kick at the end. Poured a splash of Tondo Balsamic from Tuscany. Wonderful stuff.
The palate shows; green & golden apples, some yellow & white stone fruits, lime & lemon pulp w/ zest, green melon, kiwi & light green melon, the fruit bits in marmalade, honey notes, soft caramel, vanillin, ginger ale, hints of mint, yeasty note to baguette crust, grey volcanics, white spice, nice chalkiness with tiny bits, limestone, sea spray/fossils, yellow flowers/lilies, spring flowers with greens, well balanced/knitted with a round, elegant, polished finish that lasts 90 seconds that lands on mid intensity spice & minerals.
Blend of 2019-20. Disgorged 12/22. — 5 months ago
Clean, citrus, light — 3 years ago
Minerally, lemon clawback from a tease of tropics/gooseberry. New oak gives it a little more seriousness, but not a malo/creamy mess — it’s crisp. Good “house” Sancerre — 6 years ago

Strong garrigue (sage and lavender dominate the herbal components), black pepper, and mineral aromas. Tinges of green tobacco, pink peppercorns, and dried chilies. Definitely one of the best GSMs I've had. — 6 days ago
