Maison Saint Aix

Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence Rosé Blend 2019

Very interesting Rosé, complexion of fruit notes (super very subtle of watermelon) but so smooth finishes (wet The whole mouth with more saliva, but yet dry acidic fresh)
No wonder why they have this in a magnum sizes, Cuz it’s enjoyable for everyone, even the beginner to the wine tasting. Drinking in the pool, during a first date or at home during shelter in place, suitable of ‘em all lol.

Goose Bay

Spencer Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Pale lemon in color.

Fruity nose of lemons, green apples, grapefruits, spices and minerals.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Crisp and refreshing.

Dry on the palate with citrus, lemons, green apples and grapefruits.

This is a very tasty Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Not very complex, but easy drinking even by itself.

Doesn't show like a typical New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, but very tasty.

A great wine to drink by the pool. Crisp, refreshing and tangy. Fruit forward and rich.

I had it all by itself. Kosher and vegan.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

$20.

So good, especially loved the nose. Exactly like smelling a freshly-opened inflatable pool float. Petrol City.

Château Talbot

Saint-Julien Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1949

Actually deeper colour than the 1962 and 1959 . Slightly more medicinal nose , touch of swimming pool , lightly herbal with some dried fruit . On the palate this has a drier profile , darker dried fruit , slightly astringent acidity and quite gritty , rustic tannins . Slightly dry on the mid palate , but good earthy tobacco notes . Quite dense and robust , showing good backbone and body . Reasonable length , with earthy , gritty finish . Quite dense and structured. Not elegant but quite impressive for a 76 year old wine . Now and over the next 5 or more years , though obviously won’t improve. — 3 months ago

Domaine François Raveneau

Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2000

This is amazing. A rush of rock pool, salinity, yellow fruit, soft citrus on the nose. Loads of slatey mineral and rock. On the palate this expands and expands. It’s just amazing how this is so complex but restrained and in place. Just wow. — 6 years ago

White flower and damp mossy rocks. A little bit of the inside of a pool house. So long and endearing, it’s like hugging a long lost friend for the first time since quarantine (not that I’ve done that, please still social distance). Excited to see where my other bottles go — 6 years ago

The Barns at Hamilton Station

Meritage 2017

Fantastic at eight years old! Vibrant dark/red fruit… a touch of thyme and a pinch of rosemary. Michael Shaps built this and you can tell. Fantastic attack (cherry sweetness) and the mid palate is just a tango of balance (slightly stewed fruit and herbs)…
Medium finish but delightful in staying inside the boundaries for what this wine is meant to do

Trarbacher Huhnerberg Spätlese Trocken Mosel Riesling

Intoxicating nose, so spicy and animal. Savage tropical fruits on the nose, incredible, like jackfruit or even durian. After that blows off there’s that swimming pool aroma and lots more fruit, mangoes and citrus zest. Such good acid, electric in the mouth. Long finish. Did not want to put this glass down, though, it was so wildly aromatic. — 7 years ago
