Meritage 2017

Fantastic at eight years old! Vibrant dark/red fruit… a touch of thyme and a pinch of rosemary. Michael Shaps built this and you can tell. Fantastic attack (cherry sweetness) and the mid palate is just a tango of balance (slightly stewed fruit and herbs)…
Medium finish but delightful in staying inside the boundaries for what this wine is meant to do

Domaine de la Pépière

Clos des Briords Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Muscadet Sèvre & Maine Sur Lie Melon de Bourgogne 2017

White flower and damp mossy rocks. A little bit of the inside of a pool house. So long and endearing, it’s like hugging a long lost friend for the first time since quarantine (not that I’ve done that, please still social distance). Excited to see where my other bottles go — 5 years ago

Oh yea baby. Smokey, fruited, well aged. Big but not obnoxious. Complex. — 6 months ago

Ashbourne Pinotage/Cinsault 2019

Blend of Pinotage (84%) and Cinsault (16%). Interesting Garnet/Magenta/Ruby color. Aromas of sour berry/cherry fruit, wet stones and a funky (not unpleasant) musky note. Juicy red cherry, cranberry and pomegranate fruit on the palate with hints of mineral and earth. Very tangy on the medium finish. Fine tannins and soft texture. Quite fresh tasting and complex. No signs of oak aging. Two very complimentary blending partners. Interesting. — 10 months ago

Domaine François Raveneau

Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2000

This is amazing. A rush of rock pool, salinity, yellow fruit, soft citrus on the nose. Loads of slatey mineral and rock. On the palate this expands and expands. It’s just amazing how this is so complex but restrained and in place. Just wow. — 5 years ago

Jim Jim The Down-Underdog Shiraz 2019

Always suspect of ‘cute’ labels. But this is pretty tasty for an inexpensive Aussie Shiraz. Lots of fruit- strawberry- a bit of white pepper- light tannins- 14%. Would be a nice cook out wine. Hard to dislike. — 9 months ago

Goose Bay

Spencer Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Pale lemon in color.

Fruity nose of lemons, green apples, grapefruits, spices and minerals.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Crisp and refreshing.

Dry on the palate with citrus, lemons, green apples and grapefruits.

This is a very tasty Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Not very complex, but easy drinking even by itself.

Doesn't show like a typical New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, but very tasty.

A great wine to drink by the pool. Crisp, refreshing and tangy. Fruit forward and rich.

I had it all by itself. Kosher and vegan.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

$20.
