This is the 2019 Hunting Hill, same vintage as the recently tasted Kumeu River Coddington. The Coddington remains the more opulent of the Kumeu cuvées. A mouth watering salinity. In this one. As Bob Campbell MW said, this is a Burgundian style (lacking the stone fruit of the Coddington). Although several previous vintages of Mates Vineyard have proved, at least to my palate, that it is the premium Cuvée. — 3 months ago

The description: The 2022 Pinque has classic strawberries and cream characters along with watermelon and a touch of Szechuan pepper. The 2022 vintage was warm and dry and correspondingly this wine is relatively low in acid making for a very smashable wine, although like all our wines there is plenty of subtle complexity to delight the taster. Enjoy! The opinion: in total agreement.

I liked this more than I can remember liking a syrah. Restrained, well balanced, delicious. — 5 months ago
Picked this up walking around Waiheke a few years ago. Super nice, dry, peppery, blackberry, good tannins — 5 years ago
It’s reminiscent of great times with people you trust. We were disappointed when the last drop disappeared. — 6 years ago

Opened at a restaurant where we surprised was given a private room. Breathed with decanter but was not the best when opened up. after about an hour of breathing it is more pleasant with some blue fruit and mineral and overall still abit bitter. not bad for new zealand — 2 years ago
Dark fruit (purple and black), chocolate and refined tannins lead to a delicious, complex, and long finish on this red blend. I’d guess a blend of Syrah, Merlot, Malbec? — 6 years ago
Fresh, acidic and fruity taste. Green apple notes at first, then peach and lime. Really good! — 6 years ago
Not a great photo but love this wine from Waiheke island — 6 years ago

The pale lemon colour belies the luscious, opulent stone fruit nature on the medium to full bodied palate. Of all of the Kumeu River Cuvées, Coddington is regarded as the most opulent I believe. This is a real crowd pleaser - so easy to like. — 18 days ago
