Floral bomb on the nose. Ripe apricot, honeysuckle, lavender, and minerals on the palate with a hint of petrol. Medium bodied, medium alcohol, medium acid, and medium plus finish. — 2 years ago

Clos La Néore Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Thanks to 2 wine store owners that I became good friends with over the years I’ve had the opportunity to have a good stash of Vatan. For me Vatan is one of those wines that adheres to the cliche, “ there are no great wines just great bottles”. In this instance it was a great bottle. Intoxicating aromas of lychee, lime and florals. One of those wines you’re happy just to smell. There is no disappointment on the palate. Beautiful balance and texture, nothing out of place. Layers of concentrated fruit; mango, green almonds, star fruit and lemons. Ripe fruit that is fresh and managed by the wonderful acid. A finish you never want to end. The only flavor missing, which I often find in Vatan, is “spearmint”. — 20 days ago

@Jan de Weerd When you have a moment read some of the notes, you will see VERY favorable reviews are very common. If I recall fellow poster @Conrad Green called Vatan the Raveneau of Sancerre. He was spot on IMO

Alsace Pinot Noir 2019

Just a perfect accompaniment to simply roasted chicken. Soft nose has bright cherry/red berry fruitiness, and a soft, beet-like earthiness, along with subtle cracked stones. In the mouth it’s soft and nearing maturity, with soft but adequate acids and a decent amount of soft tannin. The flavors have nicely-concentrated soft cherry fruit, and some nice stony minerality. Nice length for a basic Alsace AOC wine. I like this a lot. — 5 months ago

Alsatian Pinot Noir has become a thing these past 10 years or so!!

@Doug Powers - Yes. Global warming has helped a few wines in some cooler areas, this being one (along with Pinot Noir in Germany, Sancerre, and the Finger Lakes). Not to mention Cab Franc in the Loire now not routinely tasting like machine oil!
