Stock California Syrah 2012

2012 Stock Syrah, not Grenache. Stein was the Grenache in the 2012 offering. Error in the database. Wow- Syrah of the tasting. Lovely fruit and lots of iodine and violets. Loved it. 2015 Le chemin vers l’ heresie Grenache was silky smooth and a lovely start to our Friendsgiving meal. — 7 months ago

Rattrapante Eleven Confessions Estate Grenache 2012

2012 vintage. 15.6 ABV but tasted like 14.7. Medium body. Decanted and tasted after 20 minutes and 2 hours. Slight amount of sed but not objectionable if poured into the proceedings. Mostly frontal fruit tasting with raspberry and strawberry flavors coming through predominantly. Relatively unexciting in the early going. Nice...but not exactly this year's girl. Tasting after two hours decanted...body upped to medium/medium-heavy body and a subtle cracked black peppercorn flourish all these promises of satisfaction. As with (nearly) all the wines from this producer, killed off at least a decade too early, likely two. Those disco synthesizers those daily tranquilizers...9.3.25. — 10 months ago

I am just an old school outdated purist with a preference for the yeast which sits on the grapes: At 15.6% i suspect a designer yeast is at play which survives these levels of %.

Stein California Grenache

Dense boysenberry in color: nose of blackcurrant, spice and a little licorice; lovely texture of fully ripe fruit that’s bright with just enough supporting tannin. SQN always so solid. — 4 years ago

Stockholm Syndrome Grenache 2010

Crazy bottle. Opens for 12 hours before dinner. Started mostly secondary…mushroom, truffle, leaves with some dark fruit hiding out. In the next hour a core of dark raspberry, almost chambord popped out. Tannins tame. Great balence of of aged secondary and ripe and extracted dark fruit..excellent — 10 months ago

This is one of the sexiest thing you can ever taste in your glass.
So fresh and young. The alcohol and the concentration are super integrated, making it so drinkable and extremely pleasant. Would love@to try this in 20+ year from now.

Trouver l'Arène Syrah 2015

2015 vintage. Last tasted 10.5.25 (9.5). Decanted and tasted after 30 minutes. Heavy body. Nose some cinnamon graham cracker and überripe dark plum. Flavors added in meaty, savory, earthy, Côte-Rôtie styled escapades. As befitting the ABV, super smooth and absolutely zero rush to crush. 2.25.26. — 4 months ago

Turn the Whole Thing Upside Down Grenache 2009

#AgedWineTuesday

Deep purple in color with a short, cloudy purple rim.

Strong nose of black currants, black plums, stewed cherries, dried figs, raisins, ginger, oak, eucalyptus, spices, green beans and peppercorn.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruit forward on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, tobacco, licorice, peppercorn, chocolates, herbs, spices and coffee.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 16 year old Grenache from California feels like it peaked a few years ago, but still drinking beautifully. Elegant and rich.

The Syrah notes are very dominant, especially right out of the bottle.

Complex and interesting, with a beautiful nose. Extracted and fruit forward.

Robert Parker 96 points.

Needed 2 hours to open up, and delicious by itself as a sipping wine.

A blend of 84% Grenache, 11% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre.

15.6% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$330.

In The Abstract White Blend 2012

2012 in 11/23....Snagged from KL Auction in Cali days. Stored perfectly. Let down w my 1st SQN experience but poss my own fault for too patient. O2. Better on day 5. Rich, viscosity, peach, stone fruit. Alc seemed tame for 15.2...Ch,Rous,Vio, Pet Manseng...could tell this was once a fascinating and delicious wine though likely a btl i'd need help with. This one more interesting than delicious. Damn! — 3 years ago
