Peay Vineyards

Savoy Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

Dark cherry & Prune plum. Comes across as quite big and rich despite just 13.9%. Super juicy and drinkable. Black tea leaves, grippy with a bite, well managed tannins. More of a red meat than a white meat Pinot. Would do well even with a Burger. Not my style (for this it has a little too much fruit) but really well put together! A couple of years in the cellar would make it even better - or drink now. Even better days later! — 6 days ago

I enjoyed this pinot, as I enjoy many from Cristom (in the Peay/Radio-Coteau family for me). It didn’t taste “old”, as it still had some fruit, but it was smooth and subtle. Would drink again. $45. — 4 years ago

Williams Selyem

Savoy Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023

Williams Selyem – Pinot Noir – 2023
Savoy Vineyard – Anderson Valley – USA 🇺🇸

Overview
An expressive, cool-climate Pinot Noir sourced from the renowned Savoy Vineyard in Anderson Valley. Further north than the Russian River Valley and closer to the Pacific’s cooling influence, this site produces Pinot with lifted aromatics, savory undertones, and remarkable structure. Williams Selyem preserves all of this with their signature finesse and precision.

Aromas & Flavors
Red cherry, cranberry, and pomegranate alongside notes of forest floor, dried herbs, and subtle rose petal. Hints of green tea, spice, and earthiness emerge with air, true to Anderson Valley’s highly expressive style.

Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with bright acidity and fine, graceful tannins. The palate is layered, vibrant, and slightly savory, finishing long with freshness and quiet complexity.

Food Pairings
Roast duck, mushroom-stuffed chicken, herb-crusted salmon, lentil dishes, or aged goat cheese.

Verdict
A beautifully expressive Pinot Noir that showcases Anderson Valley’s cool-climate character, vegetal, aromatic, and deeply layered. Yet through it all, Williams Selyem’s finesse, purity, and elevated precision remain unmistakable. Cheers!

Did You Know?
Savoy Vineyard is one of Anderson Valley’s most respected Pinot sites, known for its fog-cooled mornings and complex soils. Many top producers, Peay, Littorai, Radio-Coteau, also source fruit here for its aromatic intensity and savory depth.

Wet volcanic rock, burgundy, gasoline, fireworks. Just a flavor explosion; less cherry and acid than the Peay. As good, probably better. I had the ‘13 of the Savoy in Hawaii, and it was also excellent. “Tastes like a quarry” — MRM — 5 years ago
