The 2016 “Cuvèe Aux Petites Noix” pours a very pretty ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe red fruits: raspberries, strawberries, cherry, and some warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. A lovely wine showing well in its early drinking window. Gorgeous wine and so classic in 21. Nose is granitic and dusty with some lovely red currant and licorice. Gamey, meaty and so deep. Really terrific aromas. Smells like Cote Rotie and it is within spitting distance. Palate is very 21. Mostly red fruits with some minor black ones and a classic, grippy almost Cru Bourgeois type structure. Juicy and serious for such a humble price. Pre tariff we were $19.99 a case. Very 21 and very lean. Big tannins and actually needs maybe 3-5 years of age. After 5 hours this is soft and lush and has gone from 9.0 to 9.1. Really came together. — 21 days ago
