Tingly, easy drinking wine. Amazing. — 4 years ago
My very first Nebbiolo wine was a 1975 Valgella from Rainoldi. And my first interview to try to get into the NYC wine business after college in 83 was with the company (C. Daniele, now long-gone, who occupied a ramshackle office on 125th Street, I think) who imported Rainoldi then. So this wine brings up some ancient memories. It’s actually quite nice. It’s more rustic than many Valtellinas I’ve had. Nose has lots of sour cherry fruit laced with clean stony minerality and a bit of barrel spice. Intense yet not heavy in the mouth, with nice interplay between sour and ripe cherry. Nice minerality too. Tangy acidity and a bit of elbowy tannin give structure. Clingy finish. Went really well with bistecca alla pizzaiola. — 5 years ago
This is a really good wine but definitely not a crowd pleaser. It starts off with melon and then turns to something like a dry, not-sweet mead. Cool and interesting. — 6 years ago
My first Brachetto. From Piedmont, similar to Frapatto - slightly sparking. Paired this with dessert. Nice combo. Not to sweet, and definitely refreshing. — 6 years ago
Legit. Truly legit. This is outstanding. Deep nose. Spellbinding. Roses, meeting road tar, loam, spice, glorious. Tea. Palate is an insane monster of deep glorious cherry fruit intermingled with spice and what purity. Sick definition and so clean. Big tannins that are sicko ripe. Unreal length. Goes toe to toe with the big boys. Length is crazy and pumps insane fruit. Wow. It’s so deep and complex but insanely fresh. — 7 years ago

2022/7/1 with the last of the prosciutto San Daniele for a while, pan-roasted kuro-shitabirame, turnip salad, etc. This was such a grand, typical Meursault - loads of nuts, butter, stone and lemon, just approaching its peak. Then you add the Genevrières spice - nutmeg, clove and yes, juniper - and it’s really wonderful. It disappeared rather quickly. Sadly Fichet last produced this in 2010, and this bottle (with 14 years of age) didn’t cost much more than a current-release villages lieu-dit goes for... — 4 years ago
Havtorn i både smak och doft - en lite järnig ton och med en hint av apelsin. Låter som ett glas juice men det är väldigt gott med välavvägda smaker. — 5 years ago
Nose: warm in a poetic kind of way. A lovely melange of spices roses and tar. Dusty perfume. So floral. Wow. Incredibly penetrating.
Palate is silky. Gods cherry/rose licorice. So “sweet”
Finish is omg. Savory. Chocolate coffee. Terrific.

2018 vintage. Last tasted 11.20.24 (9.3). A bit of regression but, to be fair, this experience a PNP situation vs being open for an hour or so. Light-medium body. Nice personality...needs a firmer handshake currently. 4.3.26. — 3 months ago
