Swartland Reign Of Terroir

Château Andron Blanquet

St. Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. At the time under the reign of the Audoy family, and recently sold, together with their other estate Cos Labory, to neighbour Cos d'Estournel. A good, old-fashioned Saint-Estèphe with rather rustic tannins that offers decent value for the appellation at 15,50 euro, even if I believe that they could have done a better job with this terroir in a great vintage. — 3 months ago

Granite Swartland Syrah 2012

The most open one out of the Single-Terroir-Syrah Range. Huge amount of black olives at first, red cherry, ash and dust on the nose. Nice acidity & good structure with a medium-body. Very, very mineral aftertaste. Still needs time in the cellar to fully open up. Well done @Andrea Mullineux & @Chris Mullineux! — 10 years ago

Avaux Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 1995

Terroir and transparency reign supreme here. I would have not been able to tell this was 25 years old at all. Energy fully intact. Actually a great representation of Beaune 1er Cru that can at least be a great accompaniment at the table and stood up for a solid 48 hours opening more as time went on and never lost its gusto. No blockbuster but absolutely worthy. — 6 years ago

The Curator Chenin Blanc Blend 2015

Tech-notes state of terroir, . . . extremely old soils considered by many to be low potential. But, he’s a tasty little underdog😊 notes of honey, guayaba, nice zip, and a rich mouthfeel😋 label reads, drink w/attractive friends or cellar until you have attractive or interesting friends 👯‍♀️👯‍♀️ — 8 years ago

Such a fun wine from South Africa swartland. Light purple, plumy, tart, with a hint of granite terroir. Will def drinks again. Best when chilled. — 7 years ago

Schist Swartland Syrah 2013

An unmistakable animale on the nose and on the palate, ringing out a distinctive Southern Hemisphere terroir. Undergrowth, black currant and nutty spice. A broad beam of tannins frame a medium-bodied gem that’s built to last. Superb. — 8 years ago
