An excellent Martinborough Pinot Noir. Rich and luscious like an Otago Pinot but not as overt as Otago usually is. Red and Black cherry with restrained whole bunch influence. Balanced French oak. Craggy Range is based in Hawkes Bay (the winery is a great spot for lunch!) but they were smart enough to establish their Te Muna vineyard in Martinborough - a much better terroir for Pinot Noir. Bob Campbell MW nailed the brief by saying it “delivers power with consummate subtlety. “ A point or two off for a ridiculously heavy bottle. — 2 years ago

It is a decent Sav Blanc. Crisp, fruity, dry on the plate. Nice summer wine. — 3 years ago
Wonderful with Pat’s grilled swordfish ($23). Subtle oak barrel toast gives the wine a warm chardonnay feel without being overly oaky. Has a chalky flinty mineral mouth feeling. — 4 years ago
Totally love Gimblett Gravels Reds & this is one of them. Beautiful array of dark berry fruits, dark chocolate, a spec of bakery spices, a dash of savoury goodness and fresh silky tannins. — 6 years ago
Tonight I have opened the 2017 Te Awanga Rod McDonald Mister Sauvignon Blanc.
On the nose there is generous amounts of lime, guava, grapefruit, kiwi fruit, nectarine, white flowers, minerality and wet concrete.
On the palate I am finding nice citrus, lime, white peach, green apple, kiwi fruit, nectarine, celery, herbs and minerality.
This wine is medium bodied with medium + acidity that moves nicely into a long clean citrus finish. Have a continued great weekend and please stay safe. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂 — 7 years ago

I can imagine this peppery, herbally wine with Onion soup, crostini, strong cheese…. Or on its own with chocolate chip cookies. — 4 years ago
Excellent Bourgogne at Te Honu Iti, Cook’s Bay Mo’orea — 6 years ago
Quite tasty — 7 years ago
Oldest winery in NZ (1896). 3 owners. Crisp Texsun grapefruit flavors. Wonderful value for region and style. Approximately 10,000 cases made. — 8 years ago
Meaty aromatics with spice, liquorice and a little pepper. An excellent medium plus bodied Shiraz which has always been one of my favourite Australian Reds. Medium plus intensity of flavour. Oak has been totally integrated. The next day comparing with a Te Mata Bullnose Shiraz from Hawkes Bay NZ. This is definitely more full bodied and less peppery than the Bullnose. Still an inner core of strength to the Langi which will see it last for another 5 + years. It’s fair to say the style of the Langi has changed over the past 20 years but it remains an Icon. — 2 years ago

A discovery from NZ. Fullbodied. Well balanced as from condrieu. — 6 years ago
Quite pleasant Sauvignon Blanc ($23) — 6 years ago
Very pleasant Sauvignon Blanc, light and dry and not grassy like typical Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs — 7 years ago
Seriös Merlot. Som väntat fruktdominant men med väldigt torrt avslut. Mörka bär, plommon, cigarr och svart te. Mediumfyllig kropp men väldigt snabbdrucket. — 8 years ago

Aged beautifully. No hard edges at all, tannins are velvet. Eucalyptus, dry pine, cassis, super rich nose. Bright summer fruits, blackcurrant, fig and cedar. A delight. — 2 months ago
