Cuvée Annamaria Clementi Brut Franciacorta Champagne Blend 2006

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2006 “Cuvée Annamaria Clementi” pours a deep straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is vinous, toasty, and leesy, with ripe tropical fruits, lemon curd, and marzipan. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is super rich and creamy. Fabulous stuff. Drink now. Disgorged Autumn of 2015. — 10 days ago

Castiglion del Bosco

Riserva Millecento 1100 Brunello di Montalcino 2016

8 years out - still pretty red with hints of brown, legs are slowing down, no sediment yet. It's rounded out and smooth but could benefit from more time in the bottle to further develop the medium to full body. First nose of forest floor, mineral and cherry. Deep cherry, oak, with earthy forest flavors and slight minerality. Long finish with low-medium acidity.

Casale del Giglio

Cesanese Lazio Rosso Red Blend 2022

This wine is very dark. It looks that way and it smells that way, too. The nose offers a funky, earthy, dare I say barnyard-y package of aromas. The fruit that is there, the blackberry, currant, and black plum, is muted and dwarfed by the savory smells. Tar, creosote, forest floor, and cigars are the main event. The palate bears much more fruit. Flavors of dark berry, black currant, plum, black cherry, elderberry and black Mission fig all vie for attention. The mouthfeel is fairly elegant, which is surprising after the brute force of the nose. Fine tannins and a gentle acidity will make a nice pairing with meatballs in a Bolognese sauce or sautéed mushrooms. — 7 months ago

Crisp and bright with acidity with notes of pineapple, lemon, and a touch of pear. A brilliant summer taste with enough acid to hold up to rich white sauces. — 7 months ago
