Leftovers from our 2nd Annual, “Bierock Bonaza: Let’s have some funza with Runza”.
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three hours. The 2015 pours a deep ruby with a slightly purple tinge and a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of lightly stewed, spiced strawberry, ripe fig, and cherry lozenges, red flowers, green herbs, with a touch of leather, and a mix of organic and inorganic rocky earth. Just the faintest hint of mouse. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. The alcohol is also medium+. Delicious. Drink now through 2030.

From Isla recommended as a top red. — 17 days ago
Delicious — fresh strawberry, hints of tropical fruit, mineral, honeysuckle, good acid and subtle white floral notes. Beautifully balanced. Paired well with smoked turkey burgers. — a month ago
Cherry red. Black Fruity matured. Good concentration. Black pepper is not much. Fermented flavor.

Nose is a little reticent at first, giving shy whiffs of Granny Smith apples and crushed rock. Just the barest hint of Chablis “brothiness” as I like to call it. As it airs and warms, it’s a bit more forthcoming. In the mouth it’s on the lighter side, but certainly showing Chablis minerally character. Acids medium low. A nice aperitif Chablis but color me a bit disappointed, for now, given the producer. Will try to check back in after a few hours.
UPDATE: After several hours, showing noticeably more fruit and depth. — 8 months ago
Less feral, more candy. Med+ body but lacks depth. — 9 months ago

[Back label says 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, and then (in a burst of French mathematical genius), the remaining 30% (hey, that’s what the label actually says), Malbec, Merlot, Syra (their spelling), Canernet Franc, Pinot (unspecified which Pinot??), and Tannat] OK, not trying to goof on the winery or the importer (uh, KLWM!?!?), but weird math and unclear varietal composition is kinda just odd, at best, or just weird?!?!?’ Production was 75,000 bouteilles, 1,400 magnums, 100 jeroboams, and 25 mathusalems (their spelling, not mine)??!!
OK, first whiff, I could honestly care less what the actual grape cepage is, tons of garrigue, but at age 40 still quite fresh, most of the tannic structure has faded away, but this shows those awesome tertiary notes, along with clear bottle sweetness, which makes these older bottles so amazing and, frankly, compelling to drink!! Great southern French wine from the Pays de l’Herault, super long finish, WOW!!! — 12 days ago
