Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Hate to be a typical wine drinker, but there was a smooth and velvety taste with a continuous bite at the end. Completely coats the tongue with flavor from start to finish. — 7 months ago

Beautiful classic Pinot with lots of bright red fruit. Laying some down for a few years. — 8 months ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

I guess I’m drinking this too soon! Need to better manage the cellar… tremendous fruit on the nose as I decanted that became more vegetal with time. Bright and leathery on the tongue, rich and luscious in the mouth. Strong tannins — easy to see how others are enjoying it at twice the age. — 2 years ago

La Romanée Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2022

From one of the absolute best sites in Chassagne, the ‘22 vintage and third vintage from Theo Dancer is expectedly superb, and the sunny and impeccably located La Romanée vineyard is profoundly textural, satiny and incisive with a particularly citrusy profile with freshly baked bread and chalky minerality. This is of course, still very young and is without a doubt built to age. — a year ago

Les Perrières Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay 2013

Dancer’s Perrieres vines are sandwiched in between the great Roulot and Lafon, and his 2013 Perrieres is a stunner. There is so much depth to this wine and it’s about so much more than just reduction. It’s detailed, complex and layered with yellow fruit and stony minerals with superb density and inner mouth tension. It’s powerful and intense but its weight is so lifted and the freshness of the vintage keeps it impeccably well balanced. There is a line of pulsating acidity and exhilarating energy on the palate that leads to an explosively long finale. — 5 years ago

Deliciously well balanced and ready to drink. Covered dark fruit, earthy nose and this follows through on the tongue with added spice and only light tannins. Who could ask for more! — 7 years ago

Château Léoville Barton

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Already so lovely, but still so young. Medium ruby red in the glass with long, lusty legs and a wide brim. The nose is exactly what you think a classic Left Bank Bordeaux should be. Cassis, plums, and tobacco immediately upon opening. New leather and oak with just the right amount of earth. Very nice.

Big, powerful, and virile. Amazing balance and purity for a wine so young. Still a bit tannic at times but decanting certainly helps with that. Pretty fruit on the palate with blackberries and cherries. Soft vanilla undertones from start to finish along with licorice and more earth on the tongue.

Very impressive with such depth and such personality. As good as this is today it will be so much better if you can show patience. Put these away and try your best to forget about them and you will be rewarded.

Château Mouton Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

1989 vintage. Last tasted 3 years ago (9.6). Nice fill. Durand used to open. Cork 95% saturated with extensive bottle rim cleaning involved before pouring. Not decanted. Tight, minty nose throughout along with a decided, lingering zinc note under the tongue at the finish line. Tasted 2 hours after opening. Power but without delineation. Just a consistent, forgettable push. Nothing wrong with the wine...it just needed more air/time and a decant but it wasn't my call. Feel like the zinc flavor would have dissipated/blown off with more time. Good but more memorable for what it wasn't vs what it was. Pity and an entire wasting of what could have been. 11.21.25. — 7 months ago

Special Selection Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

First impression on the nose is of freshly installed carpet and peppercorn. Hits the tip of your tongue as a tingling glitter and down the back of throat with notes of peppercorn, blackberry, Cuban cigar ash, and slight smoke taint. — 7 years ago
