This is my first experience with this grape and this wine. I was given this wine by a close friend, the 1994 Ca' Togni Sweet Red Wine Philip Togni Vineyard Spring Mountain St. Helena, California. The grape is the Muskat Trollinger Muscat Hamburg.
On the nose there is licorice, leather, coffee and dark earth.
On the palate is licorice, buttery nutty carmel, concentrated dried dark fruits and butterscotch.
This wine is medium to full bodied and has port feel and qualities, sweet very viscous medium acidity and tannins seem to be fully resolved that moves deliciously into a long sweet savory nutty finish. Continued great weekend to everyone, stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 4 years ago
Juicy and yummmmm. At first tastes like popcorn but quickly moved into one of those old fashioned strawberry hard candies with the beautiful packaging. Delicious and pretty and does not drink like 13% on a school night. — 7 years ago

Light bodied, some tannin, fragrant with herbs and cranberry — 3 years ago
Color is a beautiful, almost unnaturally reddish pink, cloudy and hazy. On the nose you get apple cider, watermelon, candied grapefruit and bubblegum. On the palate it's fairly dry with low acid and some of the notes on the nose are lost. It's mostly green apple, mango, peaches and some yeast. No funk from natural processes and incredibly refined for being unfiltered. On the finish you do get a bit of dried herbs. Pretty energetic bubbles like soda pop. — 4 years ago
A slightly more modern yet highly authentic interpretation of Vernatsch. Cool & fresh with ripe plums, with some plum jam, a bit of damp earth & undergrowth, some graphite.
Nicely drawn, this is featherlight yet focused & precise, with pure, juicy fruit, good acidity and present tannins - quite light yet with grip. The aging in (large wood) fills the mid palate nicely. This is why I love Vernatsch!

Funky but opened up quickly. Tons of acidity, straight chuggable wine. This was delish. — 7 years ago
Good not great. Raspberries prominent, light-medium weight. — 7 months ago
Really nice light red - trollinger, similar to gamay. Nice on a chill and great acidity. — 4 years ago
Delicious!!! Super fresh expression of a natural Trollinger. Light bodied. Bright acidity. Young red fruit. Bitter herbs and mineral finish. — 7 years ago
One of the best Riesling’s I’ve had — 7 years ago
Such lightness and freshness, like when you breathe clean mountain air. Yet it has real taste and depth. Radically different from any German red, I really cannot compare it to any other wine in memory. How do they make this? — 8 years ago
