Patrimoio Rosé 2017

Salty, crunchy, blood orange, and lemon citrus, mineral inflected attack that fans out to salt and fruit in the finish. Not for everyone but a nice change from your typical rose. — 5 years ago

Clos La Néore Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Thanks to 2 wine store owners that I became good friends with over the years I’ve had the opportunity to have a good stash of Vatan. For me Vatan is one of those wines that adheres to the cliche, “ there are no great wines just great bottles”. In this instance it was a great bottle. Intoxicating aromas of lychee, lime and florals. One of those wines you’re happy just to smell. There is no disappointment on the palate. Beautiful balance and texture, nothing out of place. Layers of concentrated fruit; mango, green almonds, star fruit and lemons. Ripe fruit that is fresh and managed by the wonderful acid. A finish you never want to end. The only flavor missing, which I often find in Vatan, is “spearmint”. — 20 days ago

@Jan de Weerd When you have a moment read some of the notes, you will see VERY favorable reviews are very common. If I recall fellow poster @Conrad Green called Vatan the Raveneau of Sancerre. He was spot on IMO

Honestly I haven’t been drinking wine for a while but this has reinvigorated my interest. Mosse is underrated these days. Depth and balance and finesse beyond its price tag. — 5 years ago

Hauts de Carco Patrimonio 2016

Sangiovese by way of Corsica. Somewhat earthier, spicier, more rustic. Acid a bit less and overall less polished than, say, a Tuscan Chianti. But a quite nice restrained wine. — 4 years ago

Carco 2018

2021/12/10-11. An appealingly bright ruby, this has lots of herby cherry and some complexity from earth and a hint of spice. — 4 years ago
