Nice color of dark ruby with a reddish rim.

Fruity nose of black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, earth and black tea.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, blackberries, coffee, herbs, chocolates, light oak, licorice, spices, light earth, tobacco leaf and black pepper.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Merlot based blend from Saint Julien. Elegant and spicy. Fruit forward and chocolatey.

I've had a few vintages of this wine and it is very consistent and always delicious, especially with age.

This 7 year old 4th growth Bordeaux is starting to drink beautifully now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

Well balanced, complex and interesting. Rich and inviting.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 50% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Aged in (60% new) French Oak barrels for 18 months.

Very dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Fruity nose of black currants, black plums, chocolates, light cedar, earth, herbs, black coffee and licorice.

Full-bodied and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward with plums, cooked cherries, currants, light cedar, herbs, chocolates, earth, coffee, light cola and black pepper.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a beautiful Merlot from Saint Emilion. Elegant and rich. Spicy and entertaining.

Really enjoyed the nose. Complex and interesting. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

Drinking beautifully now, but not at its peak yet. A great vintage from Saint Emilion, that will continue to age nicely in the next 15 to 20 years. Has good potential to become a 95+ point wine.

Good by itself or with food, and a great sipping wine.

A blend of 83% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Aged in (45% new) French oak barrels for 15 months.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

Long tangy finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very tasty Merlot blend from Bordeaux. Soft and elegant. Showing nice complexity at this point.

This 6 year old, Third wine from this winery, is drinking very nicely now. Fruit forward and easy drinking.

Good by itself or with food.

A blend of 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in used French oak barrels for 12 months.

14% alcohol by volume.

Showing cherries, currants, plums, dark chocolates, earth, tobacco leaf, herbs and peppercorn.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 11 year old Merlot still feels fresh and engaging, with a lot of power to last even longer.

This Single Vineyard Merlot is extracted and fruit forward. The alcohol is nicely integrated by now. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

Delicious by itself as a sipping wine, and will pair nicely with food too.

14.7% alcohol by volume.

An easy drinking Merlot that will continue to age nicely in the next 5 years.

A blend of 49% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Cabernet Franc. Aged in (25% new) French Oak barrels for 12 months.

This 4 year old Merlot from Saint Julien is drinking nicely now. Showing mild complexity and fruit forward.

A good quality Second Wine. Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years.

Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with BBQ Meats.

A blend of 80% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot. Aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.

Medium plus in length on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very tasty second wine from this Grand Cru Estate in Saint Emilion. Soft and elegant.

Balanced and fruit forward with nice complexity.

Drinking at its peak now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next few years.

Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. A nice sipping wine.

A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 15 months in used French oak barrels.

13% alcohol by volume.

This is a nice Merlot based blend from Bordeaux. Still showing enough fruits, but lacking the complexity and balance I expected from this 13 year old.

Still enjoyable by itself and better with food. Paired very nicely with the leg of lamb.

A blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc.

13% alcohol by volume.

This 5 year old Merlot from Saint Emilion is drinking beautifully now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

Nicely balanced with nice complexity. Rich and fruit forward. Elegant and soft. Spicy and entertaining.

Good by itself or with food. A great sipping wine.

A blend of 77% Merlot and 23% Cabernet Franc. Aged in (50% new) French oak barrels for 16 months.

Getting ready to leave France, so let's go out with a bang! It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Fruity nose of black currants, black plums, black cherries, tobacco, cedar, light vegetables, licorice, chocolates, coffee and light peppercorn.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, cherries, plums, light oak, spices, chocolates, licorice, light vegetables, black pepper, tobacco leaf, earth and black tea.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 8 year old Merlot based blend is still very young. In most vintages, it is a Cabernet Sauvignon based blend, but in the 2017 vintage it was a little different.

Spicy and entertaining. Well balanced and complex, but a little tight and restraint right now. Much earthier than I expected it to be.

Needs 5 years in the bottle to mature properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years.

A good food wine right now, that will pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

A blend of 56% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. Aged in (70% New) French oak barrels for 18 months.

14% alcohol by volume.
