Very floral but full bodied — 2 years ago
It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Deep ruby in color with a wide reddish /brick rim.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Showing blackberries, black currants, plums, earth, cedar, leather, chocolates, tobacco, mildew, light vinaigrette and black pepper.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 25 year old Merlot is a tad tired, but still very enjoyable.
I've had this Merlot before, but it was a more recent vintage. I have a feeling it's this specific bottle that is flawed. It might be improper storage.
Big tannins show up after 4 hours in a decanter.
Helen Turley was the wine maker. Robert Parker 96 points.
Regardless of how it is showing now, it's always nice to try these kind of wines.
A blend of 85% Merlot with 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.

Funky on the nose, good w steak- wine bar wine with a bit of tannin. Good. — 4 months ago
Oldfield Vineyard Yakima Valley. Salmon pink with refracted orange tint. Strawberry in nose and mouth. Dryish, reasonable acidity, rounded red fruit and peach on finish. Some raspy skin astringency. Not highly complex but value priced. Tannins soften appreciably after an hour, soft mouthfeel makes it better. — 9 months ago
Columbia County 3.0: Apparently I’m one wine away from my 2,000th reviewed on Delectable, which is probably an odd milestone I would not have even conceived of when starting. What better way to celebrate than with the queen bee of wines (?), royalty w grace : an utterly intense & laser- focused Sauternes. Apricot & pineapple perfumed to the point of raising the rafters. Floods the mouth w quince, candied apricot & pineapple. This may be only its half life, & that’s understating it. — 3 years ago
Orange blossom, citrus and minerals aromas. A little tangy acidity with a soft finish. Good by itself and with food. — 5 months ago
The closest thing to true Bordeaux style red blend from Napa. This wine really accentuates the vintage and the terroir, along with fruit and soil. The Dominus Estate manages the vineyard via dry farming, relying on nature for water, making a profound difference on great vintages such as 2016. Find a good vintage Dominus and you’re bound to have one of kind. Cheers. — a year ago
