"Sumu Kaw" Syrah 2013

Pure gamey, earthy and smoky Sierra Foothills Syrah, this has aged effortlessly, balance, acidity, complexity, presents as quite French in style, my three favorite reds from Hank and Caro were always the Home Vineyard (until yields got so low I couldn’t even buy it), then the Sumu Kaw Syrah, and the Cedarville Vineyard Mourvèdre (I think the 2007 of this latter wine was the first “released” LCF red wine)!! This has 5+ years of further aging ahead, beautiful red (13.5% ABV)!! Bravo to Hank and Caro!! — a year ago

Cedarville Vineyard

Sierra Foothills El Dorado County Syrah 2001

Dark fruits and faint oak aromas, rich and just hitting its peak, beautiful creamy fruit notes but not as oaky as when it was younger, medium-long finish, just a touch of alcoholic heat in finish, lovely older foothills Syrah. — 9 years ago

"Cedarville" Mourvèdre 2016

Juicy and interesting, deep blood orange citrusy taste but overwhelmingly candy-apple or candy-watermelon. Someone i was having a glass with compared to a jolly rancher — 9 years ago

Turnabout's Fair Play Red Blend 2012

[40% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon] Jonathan and Susan’s homage to Priorat, red and black fruits from the Grenache and Syrah, respectively, and then the structure of the Cabernet Sauvignon, this is drinking well tonight, but might evolve for a few more years, very fine Sierra Foothills Priorat look-alike!! — 3 months ago

Ambrosia Mourvedre 2013

Great Sierra Foohills terroir! Firmly tannic with dark cherry/tree bark/bacon. Found this to be much better than the Cedarville which had a bit too much VA for my tastes. — 11 years ago
