Rich, full body this rose behaves like a blend red!

I’m not real big fan of SB, this one though was different. The lees aging make me think of a flat champagne. Interesting right now and would love to try this with a few yrs of age to see what other nuance it has to offer. — 2 months ago

Tannins have softened but still lend a nice structure, tasted angular rather than round. Dark red fruit, blackberries, relatively fresh. Graphite and a good mix of spices, cinnamon stick. Medium finish. @ La Tete d’Or — 12 days ago

Noticeably deep colour , deeper than all the others , medium deep ruby quite thin ruby rim . Quite herbal and deep on the nose , with darker fruit profile . Blackberry , dark plum, dark cherry , earthy herbal touches. On the palate this is quite dense and rich with dark cherry , kirsch, blackberry , and a richer frame . Quite gritty but ripe tannins , with balanced acidity . Decent lightly chalky cherry , blackberry, herbal tinged finish . Very different from all others , darker and richer , riper . However , still well made , though not that charming or , dare I say it ‘Burgundian’ , probably as expected . I believe this also needs some time , come back in 5 years and drink over the next 10 or so. — a month ago

Pale to mid Ruby. A sooty earthy savoury red fruited note with raspberry and new leather. The palate is reserved yet with M+ intensity. Delicate yet assertive. Still very fresh for its age. Elegant with enough palate weight to make it totally enjoyable. Benjamin Leroux was the winemaker who has gone on to more accolades with his own label. Jasper Morris thought that this was the best wine made by Benjamin Leroux during his 14 year tenure at Domaine du Comte Armand. Would go on for several more years if you were lucky enough to be holding some. Pommard is another commune which has no Grand Crus but this must be one of the best Premier Crus. I concur with Jasper Morris MW when he had a bottle of this very wine with friends when he said “we were very sad to finish the bottle “. My son Hugh bought this wine for me from Sotheby’s NY in December 2013 and brought it home in his luggage for Christmas that year and I am so glad he did. This is one of the 1001 Wines. — 6 months ago
