Cantine Buglioni

Il Bugiardo Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2017

Blend of Corvina (60%), Corvinone (20%), Rondinella(10%), Croatina (5%) and Oseleta (5%). Dark ruby color. Aromas of dried red and black fruit, diesel fumes, leather and a bit of vanilla. Flavors of intense black berry/cherry/plum fruit, tobacco and sweet baking spices. The vanilla note is present on the long and lingering persistent finish. Velvety texture and harmonious with some noticeable alcohol heat. Bold, rich and intense. Thanks for sharing, Keith S! — 3 months ago

Allegrini

Palazzo della Torre Veronese Corvina Blend 2022

One of the wines that has made Allegrini famous, vineyard surrounds Villa della Torre. A blend of about 40% Corvina Veronese, 30% Corvinone, 25% Rondinella & 5% Sangiovese, deep Ruby color with aromas of dried berry fruit and pepper spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and black cherry with vanilla, figs and licorice notes, good balance, lively acid with fine chewy tannins. Medium finish ending with fruit, mineral and earthy spice. Nice value. — 7 months ago

Torre d'Orti

Amarone Della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2021

Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2021
Torre d’Orti – Veneto, Italy 🇮🇹

Overview
A traditional Amarone crafted primarily from Corvina (with Corvinone), Rondinella, and a small percentage of Molinara, produced using the appassimento method (partially dried grapes). 17% ABV. A powerful expression leaning rustic rather than refined in this vintage.

Aromas & Flavors
Dried cherry, baked plum, subtle fig, light cocoa, faint walnut and restrained raisin tones. Tertiary notes present but not deeply layered.

Mouthfeel
Full-bodied and structured with elevated alcohol. Firm tannins and a slightly edgy texture. Lacks the seamless velvety integration expected from more polished Amarone examples.

Food Pairings
Braised meats, aged cheeses, wild boar ragù, mushroom-based dishes.

Verdict
Technically correct and gastronomic, but did not fully deliver the plush refinement and layered complexity often associated with top-tier Amarone. Better at the table than as a contemplative standalone pour.

🍷 Did You Know?
Corvina is the aromatic backbone of Amarone, responsible for cherry and spice notes, while Rondinella contributes color and structure. Balance during drying is crucial, integration is everything.

(I'm) Perfetto Valpolicella Classico Superiore Corvina Blend 2021

Classic old-style lighter Valpo. Cherry, almond, bitter herbs, and gravel on the nose. Bright and almost ethereally textured on the flowing palate. Nice acids, and a slightly bitterish cleansing close. Imperfect? No, perfect. (The 9.3 doesn’t reflect that this is as complex or complete a wine as, say, a Burgundy or Napa Cab to which I might give the same rating, but that it is exactly what it is supposed to be and I’m enjoying it for that.) — 9 months ago

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 2020

A blend of Corvina Veronese 45%, Corvinone 45%, Rondinella 5% & Oseleta 5%, deep Ruby with aromas of dried dark fruits, spice and herb, about 120 days of appassimento. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry and raspberry with notes of fig, cacao, flint and mineral tones. Soft smooth tannins well balanced with acidity on a long spicy finish. Will continued to get better with age. Sustainable. — 4 months ago

Rosati

Amarone della Valpolicella 2017

Blend of Corvinone, Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. Dark ruby color with a garnet rim. Aromas of cherries, cocoa powder, leather, forest floor and dried rose petals. Interesting flavors of dried red and black cherry fruit, cola, bacon fat and tobacco. A bit of a smoky note on the medium-plus/very smooth finish. Syrupy, complex and rich. Well layered and fairly well balanced. Silky tannins. Thanks for sharing, Keith S! — a year ago
