Purple Angel Colchagua Valley Carménère Petit Verdot 2021

Good covered fruity nose. On tongue plum and astringent tannins, not particularly complex, with slight bitter tannin at the finish. Probably needs a bit more time, but good enough at the moment. 2021 in November 2025 — 8 months ago

Domaines Sacha Lichine Rock Angel Côtes de Provence Rosé Blend 2021

I love a Provence Róse with a little age to it! Presents with cherries, strawberries, melon, nectarine, and cucumber. Nice viscosity on the palate, nice long herbal finish, with a touch of lavender. I prefer Rock Angel over Whispering, which has a bitter floral element to it that bites, just my taste preference. — a year ago

The Beach by Whispering Angel Rosé Blend

Aroma of flinty strawberries. Tart strawberries berries upfront. Watermelon comes into play in the middle. Then a quick bone dry finish. — 3 years ago

Whispering Angel Côtes de Provence Rosé Blend 2024

Very light salmon pink taking on that orange hue. Aromatics are orange blossom, hibiscus, and lemon grass with some vanilla tying them neatly together. Flavor is citrus fruit and creamsicle with a brief stop on the mid palate for some tannins and then a sharp cleansing acidity. Goes very well with an elote risotto with chipotle chicken. — 10 months ago

#2 Locusta Cervus Kremstal Grüner Veltliner 2019

Lemons and crisp minerality on the nose, lemon heavy on the front flavor, with a crisp minerality on the mid-palate. Heavy citrus, it's delicious. — 6 years ago

Krug

Brut Champagne Blend 2008

The first couple times I tried 08 I was definitely too quick to judge. It needs a ton of air, and it’s different from the rich, oxidative, nutty house style of the past, particularly the warm and ultra forward 2006, the previous release. 2008 is indeed young, tightly wound with a pulsating core of energy.

The first glass offers very little. Subdued, austere and youthfully reserved. But ensuing pours eventually unleash its core of powerful clean orchard fruit, coffee bean and grilled nuts. On the palate it continues to become so much more textural with crazy gains in weight, depth and fruit intensity as the night goes on. It really fills the mouth, saturating the palate with a satin-like texture, ripping citrusy acids and saline laced minerals that follow deep into its finish. Enjoyable now with enough air (needs 2 hours), but no doubt one to hold. To live forever.

Wow! Still bright, chalky, and full of youthful grip. Red plum, raspberry, lichee and white pepper notes are most dominant. This could easily go another few years and not be at its peak. — 6 years ago
