Domaine Sylvain Pataille

Clos du Roy Marsannay Pinot Noir 2019

Too bad that more people have discovered the wines of Sylvain Pataille. Still well priced but more competitive to buy them. — 2 months ago

Roy Piper

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Great fruit even at this age. The only issue I had besides the slight bell pepper is how rough the tannins were and the coconut on the nose. American oak? Not something i’d think Roy would use. — 6 months ago

Bernard Dugat-Py

Coeur de Roy Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2009

Medium deep garnet, ruby core with medium light garnet rim . This is quite meaty and deep on the nose , with earthy dark cherry , porcini , sweet blackberry and spiced sous bois . On the palate this is quite severe and serious , darker fruits , ripe blackberry , cherry and hint of blackcurrant, herbal hints. Quite gritty , slightly drying tannins , fresh acidity . Earthy , dusty dark cherry edged finish , ok medium length. Quite ambitious for a village and arguably not ready yet , tannins need a little more time to integrate. From now and over the next 5 years, if not longer . — 19 hours ago

@Andrew Cullimore i’m still sitting on my ‘ 05’s from this producer. Stylistically not everyone’s cup of tea..

Yes , I would agree with you there @Ira Schwartz , and no it’s not my preferred style , but it is certainly a well made wine . Based on my experience with 2005 in general , you will probably need to leave your Dugat Py’s another decade !

Clos Prieur Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2005

A little farmyardy on opening, but still some pleasure in this forgotten oldie from the cellar when it opened up… — 5 months ago

Domaine Faiveley (Joseph Faiveley)

Clos du Roy Mercurey 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2021

Light medium ruby , wide pink rim . Fresh rose , raspberry , strawberry with hints of hedgerow. On the palate mostly ripe , light red fruits , strawberry and raspberry mostly with good freshness and just a hint of spice . Ripe but lightly gritty tannins, fresh sappy acidity . Medium length . Lovely now and over the next 5-8 years . Not complex or thought provoking but pure , fresh and enjoyable. — 10 days ago

Château Fortia

Edmée le Roy Châteauneuf-du-Pape White Rhone Blend 2023

A fresh tasting White blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Still very young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly.

Light to medium in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and complex.

Showing lemons, green apples, white flowers, grapefruits, bitter herbs, earth, spices and white pepper.

Tangy finish with limes and almonds.

Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years and see how it evolves.

A blend of 60% Roussanne, 30% Clairette and 10% Grenache Blanc.

14% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

$40.
