Hermitage Blanc Marsanne Roussanne 1999

Opened prior to dinner. The 1999 Blanc pours a slightly hazy, amber color with medium+ viscosity. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of butterscotch, mango, ripe melon, guava, beeswax, mushroom, white and yellow flowers, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, almost decadent and full of mushrooms. Both intellectual and hedonistic. Drink now through 2034. — 14 days ago

Chassagne-Montrachet Pinot Noir 2017

Delicious wine, and it’s not typically a style I enjoy. Cranberry, raspberry, and red currant on the nose & palate. Rust and tart red fruit on the front. Medium-plus acidity. Medium body. Fruit throughout. Tart, almost sour finish that’s balanced by tons of red fruit and subtle cocoa. Excellent with food and on its own. — 2 months ago

Domaine des Berthiers Pouilly-Fumé Sauvignon Blanc 2024

Pale lemon color, with aromas of citrus, stone fruits and herbs. On the palate flavors of pineapple, peach and citrus with floral notes and slight spice. Medium+ finish, vivid acidity ending with lemon citrus, herb and stony mineral spice. — 3 months ago

L'Hermitage Blanc Marsanne Roussanne 2016

Epic night of Chave tonight with JL leading the tasting direct from his cellar. Group liked the newer 16 & 18 although the 04 was youthful & fresh — a month ago

Blanchot Dessus Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2018

Musty and not very attractive at first. TCA crossed my mind. After aeration, it gets better, yet it never reached the heights it should have. — a month ago

Les Charmes Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2005

Another incredible Burgh. This needs about 12 hours to open up under an argon atmosphere. Before that an 8.7 quite boring and flat . Very dark / super refined cherry notes - Kirsch Brandy aka Schladerer from Staufen/Baden. Port wine on the nose. For Chambolle - Musigny made in 2005 this had too much fruit but now ultra refined tannins - and i hate the word ultra smooth…. — a month ago

Not as rich as the Hermitage, but still very good. Floral aromas, orchard fruit, minerals. Nice weight and finish. — 3 months ago
