I have always appreciated the style of Olivier Leflaive. As well, Chassagne-Montrachet as a whole. Always, brings me back to our lunch on the patio of Hotel Montrachet during our first trip to Burgundy and our next trip having lunch at the property with Olivier.

The 22 is drinking nicely…a bit more refined than my first bottle. Some waxiness and nice viscosity. Bright lemon w/ a note of sour, green apple-the first bite with skin, pineapple, white stone fruits, kiwi, tropical melons, notes of honey, good presence of saline, sea fossils, vanillin & caramel hues, a bit of dry herbs, dry volcanic minerals, wet river stone, fruit blossoms, yellow lilies and jasmine, spring rainfall acidy with a rich, elegant, well balanced finish that longs sets on just a touch of white spice w/ gentle heat.

Opened sometime prior to service. The 2021 pours a ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of funky brambles, purple flowers, capsicum, smoke, horse blanket and organic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Every. Single. Time. I drink these wines from Clay de Nell, i@ reminded of their deep soul and incredible value. Particularly their Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. Awesome. Drink now through 2036. — 4 days ago

Medium light lemon yellow , touch of green . Quite a lot of struck match , quite young and reductive on the nose . Some ripe lemon hints , smoky yellow fruits , peach , apricot and honeysuckle. On the palate this is quite intense and structured with the citrus and yellow fruits mixed with a chalky notes . This has good length and extract and refreshing acidity with creamy mouthfeel , after a while becoming even more mineral and fresh with an intense finish. Showing pretty young still , needs a bit of time to wake up but lots of potential . Even better in 5 years or so and will last well a further 5 - 10 . — 3 months ago
