2019 Le Hameau. 53% Cabernet Sauvignon and 47% Merlot. First vintage of this parcel selection in the commune of Cantenac, aged for 16 months in amphorae (2/3) and barriques. Le Hameau stands for finesse, whereas Le Plateau (in Soussans) delivers more power. — a year ago
Fantastic. Very deep, mature: leather, smoke, tobacco, oak. Very dry, high acidity. — 3 years ago
Deep. Plums. Earth. Lightly vegetal.
Showing it’s Biodynamicism. Drinking beautifully. — 6 years ago
1989. Renowned mildest latour n yes, no stress to drink like a dufort vivens. Opens up after 2 hrs in decanter. Buy. — 12 years ago
This is a very well made wine drinking at its peak right now. It still has lovely primary aromas and flavors of cassis, black cherry and cedar but is now showing more tertiary notes of dried violet, forest floor, leather, mushroom and tobacco. Good balance of fruity with acidity, velvety medium tannin and full body framed by 13.5%abv. Very satisfying with beef tenderloin. — 2 months ago
2010 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 30 minutes and 1.5 hours. Light-medium/medium body. Silky, supple and supremely beautiful-for Bordeaux. Regal closure on a lengthy finish. So much attention to detail without it being overtly obvious. Exceptional beauty and a fave, cutting edge BDX producer-along with Durfort-Vivens in Margaux to taste the possibilities of the region. For Pauillac, nearly as gorgeous as Pichon-Lalande...a very close second. This was so stunning. 12.5.25. — 7 months ago
2019 vintage. The young vines deliver a gorgeous introduction to the grand vin. — a year ago
2018 vintage. 85% Cab, 10% Merlot, 3% Cab Franc and 2% PV. One of the highest % of Cabernet Sauvignon in this wine that I can remember. 14% ABV. Tapenade, smoke and ripe, dark plum nose. Medium body. Softens up somewhat on the finish. Wine (and not just this vintage) occasionally drinks like 2nd growth Durfort-Vivens in Margaux with Mount Eden Vineyards having slightly more body. I need to compare the last three vintages of each all together. Spooky. 4.20.23. — 3 years ago
C. Da Silva Five Crown Fine Douro Port of the 1946 Vintage.
My research indicates that it is either an old LBV or an old Tawny. C. Da Silva was founded in 1862 and it looks like they used the Five Crowns name for both styles of port. The port in this bottle was very tawny like! It was also somewhat cloudy due to age. The port was sound, though. Lots of sweet candy. Alcohol was dominant but it really tasted like a really old tawny (which it was). This was not an expensive wine to start with so it was fun to drink after the 1926 Durfort Vivens. — 11 years ago
2020 vintage. A beautiful exemplary Margaux, very elegant. This estate is on a high. — 3 months ago
I’m alive in the glass. Feels like such a good comment. Upon opening it was kind of closed off and a little bitter and tight and didn’t have much of anything and I was worried. I got a bad bottle. Give it 30 to 45 minutes of air and life spring into it. Fresh and youthful of flowers and a little chewing ass of a lean steak with pepper and spices. And then it developed more with the tightness of the structure slowly, giving way to crushed fruit and more floral, violet and rose, smells and flavors. After three days open, but kept in the fridge it has more of a crushed dried flowers again with the violet and the potpourri, muted plum and still a crushed red fruit. Delicious very very delicious. — 6 months ago
2001 vintage. Margaux made at Durfort-Vivens selected by The Wine Society. A very good effort with still a solid colour, nice fruit and flowers, a gentle medium-bodied Margaux from an underrated vintage. — 4 years ago

2019 vintage. A small 7 hectares estate with vineyards bought from Palmer and Durfort Vivens in 1928. Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (40%) and Petit Verdot. Dark red, with orange rim. Cassis, blackberries and violet, the latter becoming more pronounced after an hour. A smooth, elegant Margaux with silky tannins and good length that doesn't break the bank. Abv. 13%. — 25 days ago
