Robe plus concentrée que le pinot de base malgré l'âge. Le nez est de cerise, framboise, cuir, humus, chocolat donc de gâteau forêt noir. La bouche est charpentée, assez puissante et la finale est longue. Les tanins sont souples. — 2 years ago
Dinner tasting. Paired with salmon and mushrooms. Light and goes so well with the fish! — 4 years ago
A great bottle for the price. Big red with notes of tobacco — 5 years ago
2013. Dark presence with violet-black from edge to end. Unctious. El Capitan tears with solar flare outcroppings linear paralleling across the cliff face. Lovely mushroom and earth interplay here with blackberry bourgeoning and black olive wisps. Forêt Noir leanings with brittle and toffee behind a curious veil of grill smoke. Palate is met with a rush of intense flavor, warm dark chocolate and raw nib, concentrated black cherry, cedar, blackberries and red currant, ripe blackberry, licorice, tobacco, and a drop of treacle. Wild resonance! Flavor permanences.

Graciously gifted to Holly and I by Pierre and Mathilde Demets. Popped and enjoyed directly from the bottle, on the streets of Paris, in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary. “Intransigeance” is a fabulous cuvée made from a combination of selected fruit from both “La Forêt” in Gŷe-sur-Seine and “Fins” in Neuville-sur-Seine; 67% Pinot Noir and 33% Chardonnay. No formal notes due to the setting but I can confidently state that the 2018 vintage is utterly delicious. We laughed and reveled as we took pulls under the Eiffel Tower and walked to lunch through the 7th and 6th. We had a blast. Disgorged July 6, 2023. Only 7306 bottles made. We need more Intransigeance, please @Lyle Fass ! — 4 months ago

Teuron Beaune 1er Cru 2009
— 5 years ago
Rose des Riceys, though produced in the Champagne region, is not “Champagne” d the word appears nowhere in the appellation. Not sure why Delectable calls it that. Anyway…
Transparent dark ruby. Inviting nose of Marasca cherries. Fruity (evidence of carbonic maceration) medium palate confirms the nose adding a very slight hint of tannin on the short-ish finish. Medium- acidity: just enough to keep it food friendly. This limited production still rose (actually a light red) shows well in this iteration. The style lends itself well to spicy foods (we had tandoori chicken and salmon) and light snack fare. Drink now. — 4 months ago
Vines at the edge of a pine forest, doesn’t get enough sun for pinot ripening so they made a more acidity white wine. First press juice from a champagne press. Light, bright, banana? Fun but relatively bland and shorter finish. — 9 months ago
Popped and poured; no formal notes. Consumed over two days with consistent performance both nights. “Les Fôrets” is a lieu dit inside of Montmains. Romain ferments in a combination of 90% cement egg and 10% foudre. This is my kind of 1er Cru Chablis. There is an abundance of energy. Bright, crisp tropical fruits that lean more towards the star fruit side of things. There is lemon citrus and loads of minerals. The oak treatment is extremely light and imparts more to the texture than anything else. The finish is long, refreshing and super satisfying. Really lovely stuff. — 4 years ago

My favorite Raveneau vintage and 2004 is absolutely pristine showing everything you could want from the legend—Captivating aromatics, a powerful, voluminous and waxy textured palate that comes with age, racy lemony acids and crystalline minerality. Not only is this brilliant vintage chiseled and laser focused but there is tremendous richness, weight and density. Finish just stays with you. The best showing I’ve had from the Forêt vineyard. — 2 days ago
