Golden raisins, soda bread, lemon, orchard fruit, nice body, tart rainier cherries — 2 months ago
Would be happy to drink this every day. Green apple, bready, minerality. Good finish. — 4 months ago
Very youthful, medium‑plus bodied Hermitage with a clearly fruit‑driven profile.
Nose: black cherry, blueberry and raspberry, light floral note, minimal smoke or oak spice.
Palate: similar dark and red fruits, moderate tannin, fresh acidity, medium‑plus finish, no noticeable volatility or flaws.
Structure suggests it will improve with a few years of cellaring but is already drinkable with a short decant.

Unbelievable. Very dark and full bodied for a pinot noir. — 6 months ago
Love these high altitude wines from Valle d’Aosta. Bright, rustic, lovely. — 10 months ago
10 year old Chablis is getting flinty and smoky. Beeswax, honey, toasted almonds.
Still high acid, but fruit is sort of smoothing out and giving way to more nutty and saline characteristics.
Still mineral driven but edging closer to saline than stoney.
Green orchard fruits are still the backbone in terms of fruit. But way more on the savory side at this point.
Lacking maybe a bit of structural brightness but it is still sleek like a whisper — 2 months ago

Not what I expected i assumed elegance and was surprised that it was so full of fruit at this age. Another 5 yrs would help but right now it so pleasurable. — a year ago
My first experience with the wines of the late Philippe Engel and what better occasion than our humble take on La Paulée. I’ve heard that bottle variation can be a thing with these wines so we held our collective breath when opening. However, our concerns were unfounded as this bottle was not only sound, but beautiful.
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2001 Clos Vougeot pours a pale ruby color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with perfumed notes of ripe and slightly dried strawberry, raspberry, dried flowers, licorice, sous bois, truffle, dried herbs, and a mix of cool and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is silky. A profoundly soulful wine and one that will live long in my memory. Drink now through 2041. — 2 months ago

Lovely blanc de blanc — 7 months ago
Medium ruby hue. Aromatic bouquet of red fruits with a matching palate. Plush and elegant. Well worth cellaring. A solid example of Grenache-dominant Chateauneuf-du-Pape. 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah. — 9 months ago
