Tenuta Perano Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2018

This is a great CC. This sangiovese blend has typical sour cherry flavors enhanced by violets, thyme, oregano, leather, and sweet tobacco. Very well balanced with juicy acidity and medium tannins. Great finish. This is a real bargain at $20!

A Tale of Two Dudes Shiraz Grenache 2021

Ruby in color with a very wide reddish rim.

Spicy nose with red and black fruits, light oak, licorice, chocolates, spices, peppercorn and light herbs.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blueberries, black currants, black plums, cherries, light oak, chocolates, spices, coffee, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious GSM blend from Paso Robles. Spicy, juicy and interesting. Elegant and rich.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime.

Feels like a New World red, with a twist of Southern Rhone. Interesting stuff. Fruit forward and complex

Will continue to get a better with age. Would be nice to revisit it in 3 to 5 years.

Easy drinking and good by itself or with food.

A blend of 75% Grenache, 18% Mourvedre and 7% Syrah. Aged in (40% new) Slovenian Oak barrels for 18 months. Unfined and unfiltered.

15.8% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Cuvée No 3 Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.

Strong fruity nose and full bodied, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and complex.

Showing black currants, cooked plums, light cedar, earth, herbs, peppercorn, espresso, tobacco, chocolates, violets and light blood notes.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This Napa Syrah is still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already drinking beautifully.

Rich and extracted. Elegant and powerful. In your face kind of wine.

Good right out of the bottle and better after 2 hours in the decanter.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

A gorgeous wine, well balanced, and a great sipping wine.

A blend of 82% Syrah and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon. Unfiltered and unfined.

15.5% alcohol by volume.

Prince Edward County Pinot Noir

Love this wine. Not too acidic like a lot of PEC Pinot. Ripe strawberries and dried violets. Shorter finish than I’d like, but such a great natural Pinot! — 6 years ago

Norman Hardie

Unfiltered Prince Edward County Pinot Noir

This is an excellent light bodied Pinot Noir. Bought it after a tasting at the winery in PEC a few years ago. Bright, fresh strawberries upfront with some darker berries and light herbs/spice at the back and surprising depth. Like his chards, Norman Hardie is the best Ontario has to offer IMHO. They stand up to many old world offerings (yes burgundy purists, it is true); unfortunately at notably higher price points, which are a bit hard to swallow (sorry, bad pun). Nice treat! — 8 years ago

Terry Hoage Vineyard Syrah Blend 2021

Pec and Burl Wines Terry Hoage Vineyard 2021, Paso Robles, California

Deep purple in color with a short purplish rim.

Strong nose of blackberries, black plums, black currants, light wood, licorice, spices, chocolates, herbs and peppercorn.

Full-bodied, bold and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruit forward on the palate with black currants, black plums, blackberries, cherries, oak, spices, licorice, tobacco, dark chocolates, herbs, dark coffee, light pencil lead, earth, light vegetables and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a very tasty Syrah based GSM blend from Paso Robles. Rich, concentrated and extracted.

This 4 year old is starting to drink very nicely now, although still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

This Single Vineyard GSM is fruit forward and powerful, yet elegant. The high alcohol is not too noticeable.

A good quality wine with good potential to become a 94+ point wine.

Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime. I gave it 90 minutes in the decanter to open up, and it's even better after 2 hours of airtime. As it opens up, the Syrah becomes more dominant.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 60% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre. Aged in (70% new) French Oak barrels for 18 months.

15.8% alcohol by volume.

Les Trois Fils Prince Edward County VQA Pinot Noir 2016

Tobacco. Smoke. A bit of red fruit…. Mainly raspberry. It really has come along after aging it a few years.

Overall: fantastic.

Looking up places to stay in PEC so I can go back to get this wine as we speak… Probably my favourite Pinot from there, or dare I say… Ontario.
