Prieuré De La Serre

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia

Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Rosso Merlot Blend 2015

Bordeaux style blend of Merlot (64%), Cabernet Sauvignon (17%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petite Verdot (9%). Dark ruby/purple color with a garnet rim. Aromas of dark berry fruit, graphite and dusty earth. Flavors of blackberry, black cherry, ripe plums, kirsch, black licorice and iron. Full bodied, long finish and intensely structured. Beautifully integrated acidity and tannins. Great combination of power and elegance. — a month ago

Domaine du Prieuré

Les Lavières Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2018

2018 vintage. Medium-body. Needs another 3-4 years to drop the bully attitude and false bravado, revealing a delicate and gentle soul beneath. Will likely pick up a case next week as the pricing is pretty good for this 1er Cru and effort. 01.09.25. — 4 months ago

Coteaux du Languedoc Red Rhone Blend 1995

30 years old and still bringing it. Drank with my blushing bride of 51 years on Valentine’s Day. It was a good choice. Both. — 3 months ago

Château Prieuré-Lichine

Blanc du Château Prieuré-Lichine White Bordeaux Blend 2023

An unconventional white blend from a 4th Growth Chateau on the left bank of Bordeaux.
70% Sauv Blanc, 30% Sémillon, provides a feast of Quincy and lemon peel aromas and flavors. Light and refreshing, young and lively. Dry, and some mineralized mouthfeel. Less than a 1,000 cases produced. Lovely!

Château Prieuré-Lichine

Confidences de Prieuré-Lichine Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Very enjoyable left bank bottling for $35 on the shelf, if not pretty closed. Decanted for 2+ hours and was just starting to reveal itself, still somewhat shy after 4+. Blackberry, stewed mulberry, earth, coffee grounds, garden, and spice. Not overly ripe or concentrated with a subtle bitter balance. Curious to see what day 2 is like. Good value candidate for cellaring though I wouldn’t hate a bit more acidity. — 4 months ago

Domaine Prieuré Roch

Clos de Vougeot Pinot Noir 2007

Of extreme rarity, the mythical and cult-like wines of Prieure Roch really do show such singularity. Grand Cru Clos Vougeot, with vines planted as far back as 1929 and situated in what is a coveted sub-section “terroir royal,” is perhaps their best wine along with Clos de Beze. 2007 is showing superbly, combining the elegance of the vintage with the power of the site with captivatingly complex aromatics and a juicy, earthy and floral mineral inflicted core and a finish that keeps on going. This was simply magical after some air. Special wine. — 3 months ago
