— 5 years ago
Fresh and vibrant. That prickle of false effervescence. Stone fruit and melon rind with that unmistakable Gruner viscosity. White pepper. Snow peas. It’s good, but tough to justify above $30. — 6 years ago
Thought this was very nice. Toast, mineral, creamy. Has some acid too. — 6 years ago
Favorite Austrian producer. One of their entry Gruner, great value. Radish, pepper, grapefruit, blood orange, crisp acidity. Good value. — 6 months ago

From a 6 ltr bottle. Party mode!! Thanks @Rob van Kalmthout. Happy B day — 9 months ago
Mmmmm. Sleek, charming, and complex - I need to drink more Austrian Riesling on this level. A very precise medium-bodied stunner with generous fruit cradled in remarkable acidity.
More info: Burgstall is a windy plateau with sandy gneiss and granite soils. 84 cases imported to U.S. $35 — 5 years ago
This is a terrific Austrian Riesling. Age has helped it develop some complexity in the nose, where it shows deep ripe apples, some petrol notes, warm earth and mineral notes. Flavors are very deep, with dark-mineral infused deep and ripe fruit, very good concentration and acids. — 6 years ago
My favorite Austrian producer for Riesling. Acid, acid and more acid. Very steely, crisp, wet rock, apricot, bone dry. — 6 months ago
A late arrival blew everything off the table. Still young (!) and dense with energy. I should write a long note, but I’m drunk AF. — 7 months ago
Good. A little bit of green apples on this, perhaps a little oxidized cause it felt like a lot older bottle but serious stuff — 5 years ago
“The best Gruner in the world”
Gruner is a crazy ass grape, and I drink the low cost liters like they’re water.
But when it’s done on a world class level it’s such an understatedly intense wine - WIDTH in your mouth, like taste it from every corner. A very different finish than you’d find in a French Chardonnay.
Cool to try. Appreciate the experience, and for $50 it’s rare to be able to taste one of the best around. — 6 years ago

Herbal, very ripe gives the impression it’s slightly sweet (but isn’t), well balanced, tart finish — 19 days ago
