Penfolds reds like this age at glacial pace even from a not so great vintage like 2007. Not much change after 5 years. Red and black fruits- choc/mocha - good concentration - tannins starting to soften after 18 years. Could keep cellaring up to 2030 and beyond. — 3 months ago

Deep crimson in colour. Notes of blackberry and other black fruits, quite bold for a Coonawarra (cool climate) Shiraz. In this warmer year of 2008 in South Australia this wine tastes more like a Barossa or McLaren Vale Shiraz than a Coonawarra Shiraz. Dry herbal notes and verging on full bodied. Being a Penfolds Bin No. red it will easily pass 20 years in the cellar. Hasn’t got the usual spice and pepper of a Bin 128 in this warmer year. — a month ago
Oldest in the Penfolds portfolio, Wine includes fruit from Barossa, McLaren Vale, Padthaway, Clare and Wrattonbully vineyards, aged 12 months in American oak, about 7% new. Deep Ruby color with aromas of dark berry fruits and sweet spice. On the palate ripe blackberry, plum and cherry flavors with cacao, espresso and vanilla oak. Vivid acidity, rich ripe fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit and a bit of spice, very nice! Good value with aging potential. — 3 months ago
This is definitely one of Zynsy-wynsy and my favorite wines so far. Has a subtle sweetness that adds to what we like most about other SBs like Wairau and Southern Right. Only reason this doesn’t get higher than a 9.5 is that there are still so many to try and I’m sure there’s room to grow. — 3 months ago

See several previous Delectable notes for this Cuvée. I have 2 bottles left after this one. Penfolds have a whopping drink window up to 2045. The colour is a pale mid crimson with a tawny rim. Mocha, dark chocolate and blackberry notes on the nose. From a low yielding cool vintage which is made for long cellaring. Absolutely superb at the moment. Great palate intensity (mulberry, black berry and dark chocolate) with mellow resolved tannins and a very long persistent finish. No wonder Penfolds tasting book is called The Rewards of Patience. — 8 days ago
