Les Saint Georges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2017 “Les Saint Georges” pours a deep ruby color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, pomegranate, red flowers, sous bois, mushroom, and exotic spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. The nose alone is worthy of songs. Drink now through 2037. — 19 days ago

Vieilles Vignes Moulin-à-Vent Gamay 2009

Anyone who thinks Bojo does not age never tasted this wine. Beautiful aromas of dried black cherry, cranberry and smoke. My palate was assaulted with flavors of black & red cherries, cinnamon, spice and minerals. Plenty of acid despite the warm year. So obvious it was made by a Burgundy producer. A perfect cork helps. — 3 months ago

@Ira Schwartz I’m with you 💯. These wines are beautiful with 10-15 years of age and never seem to be running out of steam. I think the oldest vintage of the V.V. I currently have in my cellar is 2014 but I’m always in the lookout.

Les Chaumes Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2007

A great noise. Really poised vine fruit with spice, poached pear. Sweet plum and black cherry. Violets and some spice. Very classy. More exciting on the nose than the palate — 8 months ago

Richebourg Pinot Noir 2019

Switched to Richbourg as we have over consumed Vosne Romanee and we needed a different style of Burgundy to go with our Pigeon!

Usual notes of red fruits (strawberry) to begin and a beautiful fruit concentration with soft, smooth texture throughout the 2 hours we managed to hold off on chugging it!

La Roche Moulin-à-Vent Gamay 2020

Bought this 2020 cru at $50. While in Cleveland. Was assured it was worth every penny it and it is outstanding. Crushed dark fruits including fig with spices. Juniper, pine, camphor oil, leather and bitter orange peel. Truly one of the biggest and most complex Moulin a Vents I’ve ever had. A wintry wine for roasted foods. Has easily another 5 years ahead of it. — 4 months ago

Champ de Cour Moulin-à-Vent Gamay 2020

A tiny, south facing and protected parcel of 80 year old vines, “Champ de Cour” typically shows its quality even when young and this bottle was no exception.

Double-decanted two hours prior to service; enjoyed over the course of three hours. The 2020 “Champ de Cour” pours a deep ruby/purple with medium+ viscosity and light staining of the tears. The nose evokes fresh cut roses in the greenhouse (yes, a touch funky), strawberry (with the leaves), the purple Fun Dip, granite earth, green herbs, and decomposing wood. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and grippy. Fresh, ripe and rustic. I love these wines from Thibault. As I eluded to earlier, I find these drink much better than the VV young. The VV needs about 7 years to really start strutting. Drink this now with some patience and through 2030. Thanks Andy!
