Nice rosé with two different entrees: gnocchi and duck. Worked well with both. — 4 months ago
Love it. Excellent. — 3 years ago
Great single vineyard Carneros Chard. The juxtaposition of fresh and nutty flavor is just ingenious; raging from Mayer lemon to macadamia nuts and everything in between. The oak is well disguised. Lengthy finish. Visited and tasted several chards from The Hyde Vineyard and this definitely stars/stands out. Cheers. — 4 years ago
A serious Pinot after the frivolous fresh young uncomplicated Pinot from Bloody Hill (Mayer) in the Yarra Valley. Quite bold with strong red and black fruits of cherry strawberry and raspberry together with earthy mushroom like notes. Finishes with fine powdery tannins. An interesting back story to the origins of the Malcolm vineyard where cuttings from one of “Burgundy’s finest estates “ believed to be in Vosne Romanee were illegally brought from France. Now known as the Abel clone. See full story on the Ata Rangi website. Had my last bottle 111 weeks later on 30 August 2025. Full bodied, textural, dark fruited and certainly delicious. — 3 years ago

I’ve been on the lookout for Mayer wines here in the US and happened to find a bottle in a retail shop while out of state visiting some family. I’m shocked much makes it to the states with roughly 160 cases of this wine produced.
100% whole cluster; 13.5%ABV
My immediate thought after popping and pouring was that if Cayuse made a Pinot, it would smell like this. So much stemmy/herbal/savory aromatics with peppered rhubarb and red berries. Translucent ruby in the glass (closer to darker-style rosé’s in color). The funk continues on the palate (in a delicious way) with more stemmy and savory spice, cranberries, and black tea. The stems give this nice tannin structure while the acidity here is vibrant…keeps you going back for another sip. I followed over two days and it stayed pretty consistent.
This is 100% up my alley and a wine I’d love to acquire more of. Very curious how these age (because it seems like they would hold wonderfully). — 12 hours ago
