Supple, pretty big fruit still. Lacking in depth — a year ago
So good on a rainy SF Friday evening…. Dense and serious with the lightness and lift of bubbles. — 6 months ago
After my recent white Burgh come to Jesus experience. I must say in 22 W-Burghs are the shit despite the $$$. They are stunning. More to come. Worth the extra 30$ yes. The US counter punch the 22 Mark Enfield Watson Ranch at 1/2 the price - typically his top wine - was just too linear and less exciting in this particular vintage. So i threw in this 22 Hirsch. Honeyed Melon on the nose. Lacks a tad of acidity. Quite tropical and almost sweet. 13.7%. Touch hazelnut already and relative dark yellow. Seems too highly extracted. Definitely a crowd pleaser - but this at least today is not my kind of wine. Too rich. 65$. Just can’t match the finesse of the chiseled Bachelet -Monnot 22 white Burghs. And pricy for what it has to offer. More WB tastings to come - but soon i am done! Spend enough. — 8 months ago
Beautiful nose and drinks better. Glad I bought a case. Will “test” it going forward. — 9 months ago
Solid Gruner Veltliner for $22? Yes! — a year ago
Blind tasting no2. We all immediately pegged this as old world Riesling. The tell tale signs of petrol and dried apricot gave it away entirely. But we all missed Austria. Probably need to learn more about differences in common Riesling areas.
Clear and bright straw yellow with powerful petrol fumes. Off dry but medium-high acidity with a low-medium body. Dried apricots with some slate completely dominate the flavors. It’s not complex, but has a good finishing length. Riesling for certain. Austria? Wouldn’t know! — 3 years ago
Nicely texture, dark fruit, smooth tannins , light acidity, but not sappy still bright garnet red — 8 months ago
One of Hirsch’s more rugged bottlings, being on the east ridge. Opened way to early. So much acidity and freshness overwhelmed the darker fruits you could tell sat beneath. Lots of promise. Will wait on the next one. — 9 months ago
wish i could have saved this, but it is all gone now — 10 months ago
Rustic and hearty and a little bit boxy until it loosens. It's shy aromatically. Earthy, bing cherries, prunes, and crushed rosemary.
Tannin, structure, and acid seem intact when a little give would do.
Cali wildness that doesn't feel quite as psychedelic as the Chardonnay (see previous note) — a year ago

Pinotman /// Andreas
Very cherry driven almost over the top. Raspberry and a touch of crushed marble. Definitely a wine which will please. But it lacks the earthiness of the 2016. Super juicy. Low %. Overall this is a nice example of a CA Pinot - which just wants to please unfortunately to much ….and perhaps trying to be a burgh in the process - but this vintage ain’t it. — 6 months ago
