Nose is totally closed on open. Maybe a hint of tomato skin.
Palate is sort of stewed sweet tomato a bit. Some acidity.
Let’s see how this goes.
As this opens gunmetal smoke on the nose.
Palate is fresh. Fruit is smoked sun dried tomato. Lovely internal aromatics.
2 hours in. Nose is cherry with a hint of pleasant tomato skin. Deep. Dried red roses.
Palate is bright cherry. Savory tomato (good thing). Savory. Very interesting.
Day 2 nose is smoky. Deep. Hint of tomato skin. Palate is savory. Better yesterday. But not awful. — 4 years ago
Pop and pour yesterday. Notes from day 2 open. On the nose: soft smoke and chalk, apple, lemon, a hint of reduction...lovely nose. On the palate: chalk, sour apple, lemon, loads of wet stone...fantastic acidity and good density...maybe my favorite incarnation of this wine so far... — 5 years ago
Opened yesterday. Quite bretty and reductive upon opening, but the funkiness has blown away now. The nose shows cola, dark cherry, green pepper bell, and black pepper. That cola note is something I usually get with natural wines from loire and beaujolais. The palate is yummy with a great acid drive, some superb cherry notes all along, some black pepper, some pomegranate touches, a bit of a drying layer in the rear that is quite peppery and a long fruity, joyfull finish that goes on for a while. It's not your typical extracted chinon. It's a modern, low intervention style that is delicious but needs time to settle. The anti-brett community out there might have a hard time with it 😅 but give it some time to breathe, and you will be rewarded.
Edit: it's even better 4 hours after. Delicious juice with some complex layers on top of it — a year ago
Not only is this a weekend to remember those who have lost their lives for us, but it’s a sad weekend for me. I lost a longtime friend to cancer yesterday. We went to high school together in Iceland and we both served in the Navy. Normally this would be our weekend to get together and hang out at the pool, drinking beer and listening to 80’s music. RIP Faye I’ll miss you my friend — 4 years ago

Decanted yesterday around 3:00 and we drank small glass at Dinner around 8:00. We drank the rest with some cheese and bread around 1:00PM today. I don’t think I have ever drank a wine so smooth and flavorful. — a year ago
