The Arsonist California Petit Verdot Blend 2021

Very hipster tattoo styled label. 52% Petite Verdot, 25% Cab Sauv, 23% Malbec. Dark, dark maroon color. Aroma is gravel and molasses. Maybe a hint of berry. Flavors are beefy and big. Lots of dried black cherry. Some molasses. Tannins are well represented. Has that classic Matchbook herbal streak. This went well with the lamb and mushroom dish I made. A great blend. Lots of zip and zing. Delicious. — 4 days ago

Evangelho Vineyard Heritage Zinfandel Blend

A big wine in a big bottle that made a big group of friends very happy. The 2017 Evangelho Heritage (from magnum) is energetic with loads of sweet dark fruit. It doesn’t lack zing even though this year’s blend is short in Carignan — there are nice balancing acids and mild tannins. It is richer and riper than many vintages but still vibrant. — 9 months ago

T'n'S Blocks Hudson Vineyard South Syrah

At 10-years, a beautiful experience…deep, dark pour with no signs of bricking…dark fruit (more purple and black) aromatics that just keep on developing…palate mirrors aromatics with strong fruit profile…pleasing texture/mouth feel…medium finish…hard to say how much longer one should hold…tonight, it was in the right place for our dinner — 9 months ago

Old Vine Zinfandel 2023

This continues to drink beautifully, great pizza wine (not drinking high end CA Cabernet w/pizza like @Dave), I expect this will be a go-to pizza wine for me for quite a while!! — 14 days ago

Clos du Val Wine Co.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1975

A nice comparison of French St. Julien and French winemaker, in the US with a Napa Cab.
The 1972 vintage was one of the legendary five Cabs selected for the 1976 Paris Tasting.

This 1975, had a deep garnet color with a brick rim. Loads of blackberry on the nose, casis and earthy notes. Fruit forward, black fruit and plum dominate, nice tannins. This wine definitely evolved through the evening.

Previous Notes Apply to the 75 St Julien:
Deep ruby color. Aromas of red fruit, leather and earthy notes. Amazing flavors, blackberry, black currant, tobacco and baking spices.

Sometimes one just needs to be lucky one day and 85 year old guy showed up a the wine tasting in the store with a 1971 Mayacamas Vineyards Cab. An experience i never forget. Because of the wine and the store owner declaring me as underinformed when suggested it was in the tasting. The wine was good but fell apart within 15min.

Griffin's Lair Vineyard Syrah 2016

I think this is worth seeking out if you're a CA Syrah fan. Great dirt and "pepper" (my first btl where I said "I get this pepper thing") with a nice balance of mature fruit. Drinking really nice right now. Enjoy! — 2 months ago

Cuvée Karatas Sémillon - Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2023

A beautiful blend that somehow shows each element while being nicely integrated. Rich, round, Semillon and bright, floral and citrusy Sauvignon Blanc. Highly age-worthy — 4 months ago

Sonoma Valley Sauvignon Blanc

As the kids say, this one just hits different. I’m not the biggest SB fan, but Bedrock’s Sonoma SB consistently brings out the floral, melon, and pear aspects of the varietal while leaving the green aspects behind. 2024 is no different, and comes with nice acidity to balance it as well. A great a versatile food wine. — 9 months ago
