A well structured second wine from Chateau Figeac. Lively floral bouquet on the nose transforms into a structured wine with dark fruits on the palate. — 5 months ago
2018 vintage. 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Nathalie d'Espagne took over in 2013 and the wines have gained in finesse ever since. Organically farmed since 2009. Beautiful nose with flowers, crushed strawberries, coffee, and subtle spices. In the mouth it displays juicy red fruit, spices and an intriguing minerality on the finish. Fine length too. Very good value for Pomerol. Abv. 13,5%. — a year ago
2010 Bordeaux zoom tasting with Lisa Perrott-Brown, editor in chief for RP Wine Advocate. The wines have been shut down, some waking up...big wines with volume turned up on everything (tannin, acidity, alcohol), structured, and should cellar for many years.

Mid to dark Crimson. Initially not giving much on the nose after decanting. After some time and a lot of swirling in the glass, aromas of black currant and McBaren’s Plum Cake pipe tobacco which I used to smoke at college many decades ago. Unusually for La Dominque this is 100% Merlot with zero Cabernet Franc. Palate is still lively and fresh with a long future ahead. Supple and persistent. La Dominique is surrounded by high profile neighbours with the best parcels bordered by Cheval Blanc. Other neighbours include Figeac, Conseillante and L’Evangile. Will leave the next for 2 or 3 years. — 5 years ago
Blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged in new, and used oak. Deep Ruby red color, with aromas of ripe dark fruits, spice and herbs. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and cinnamon spice. Fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, smoky spice and earthy mineral character. Good now! — 4 months ago

1985 vintage. A nice surprise and another testimony to the ageing potential of the great 1985 vintage. Still a solid colour at 37 years old. Smoke and cedar wood, good concentration of dried fruits and spices. There is complexity and length, well worth seeking out if you like older wines. — 4 years ago
Vintage 2015 | 85% merlot 15% cabernet franc Surprisingly open and with velvety tannins, good to drink now. Spicyness in smell, plums, cedar and tobacco, a very serious and rich smell. The concentration is better than what I expected, a truly fine example of a Petit Bordeaux with ambition from the family Bourotte-Figeac | Paired with Zoervleisj, a regional stewed beef speciality, baked potatoes and salads — 6 years ago
My contributions for a fun right bank Bordeaux dinner. This ended up being a standout amongst the group but others included ‘95 Cheval Blanc, ‘05 L’Evangile and ‘89 Figeac (the starter whites may have stole the show…mag of ‘10 Chave Hermitage Blanc, ‘08 Dom, ‘21 Magi’s CdP Blanc…this ‘04 ZH I brought was an excellent bridge to dessert…good r/s but not cloying; incredible vineyard).
I’ve only had TR once before but it was infanticide many years ago. At roughly 20yrs, I was excited to catch this on what I expected to be near peak. Very tight upon opening but after 45mins in the bottle, this really strut its stuff. Red and purple floral aromatics, bay leaf, and leather. Beautifully elegant on the palate but everything is in its place…supremely balanced. Clean (no brett), multi-layered fruit spectrum (red, purple, blackberries), sweet tobacco, espresso, little cassis. No roasted or over ripe profile, and also not a lean/green machine. Balance balance balance. Lovely. Wish I had another. — 4 months ago
Wow, creamy rich and full bodied — 6 months ago
Blend of 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep Ruby red color with aromas of dark black fruit, and a slight herb nose. On the palate flavors of blackberry, currant and raspberry, with tobacco and herbs. Fine grainy tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, spice and a touch of earthy mineral notes. — 2 years ago
The 2019 Angélus was bottled in September 2021, later than many other wines of this vintage. This is very precise on the nose, offering blackberry, dried iris petals, a little graphite and a touch of oyster shell, and the marine influence is more noticeable than before. The palate is beautifully balanced, the 40% Cabernet Franc very expressive and squarely in the driving seat. It lends this wine ample freshness and, as mentioned before, makes it stylistically quite akin to Château Figeac. Displaying fine structure toward the finish, this Angélus is full of tension thanks to a pH of 3.60 (previously, it was around pH 3.85, according to Hubert de Boüard) and comes with a very sustained finish. Seriously impressive, though it will require patience. (Neal Martin, Vinous, February 2022)
