Domaine Du Granit Doré

Guy Farge

Terroir de Granit St. Joseph Syrah 2018

Animale, iron, iodine, very mineral as well, great redfruits, wonderful acidity, very long, lingering finish, frankly a great St. Joseph, first time I’ve had this wine, but I think @Tom Casagrande nailed it in his review of the 2018!! — 21 days ago

@Doug Powers - I didn’t see the “Stolpman Grenache kinda sucked” review yet. (I’m surprised it sucked!)

@Tom Casagrande, weird thing yesterday when using Delectable — my posting of this wine showed up immediately (maybe because I tagged you??), and the Stoplman still doesn’t show up in my own feed?? I will note that the 2023 Stolpman was just like those 2 Tablas Creek reds (Grenache and Counoise) that I also panned because they were way too light yet were 14% ABV.

@Doug Powers - Seems like all the Kool Kids are trying to do Kool-Aid Grenache these days. An overreaction to CDPs now routinely hitting 16% and hitting the palate like liquid lead?

Cave de Tain l'Hermitage

Esprit de Granit St. Joseph Syrah 2020

Yet another exemplary wine from this co-op. Bloody and irony on the nose, some nice fruit underneath the primal elements. Very linear on the palate, medium body but great intensity of savory flavors. So soft and enveloping but without excess weight. Very nice acids. — 2 months ago

Excellent, the Alsatian co-ops also produce really fine QPR wines if you ever find them in the U.S.

Bing cherry, black raspberries, cranberries, chalky minerals lending to a nice long finish. WE gave this a 94! Probably in time, delicious! — 3 months ago
