This is nicely done. A bit on the “in your face” side, it’s got loads of rich, plummy Merlot fruit, a fair whack of French oak, and loamy earth notes. Rich, darkly fruity, a bit chocolatey in the mouth. Still a fair amount of soft, side-of-the-mouth-clingy tannin left. More youthful than its 12-year age. 15% alcohol. I prefer a slightly more reserved style, but this is impressive in its own way. — 9 months ago
I’m late to writing this having worked my way through half a case since 2019, but the wine was outstanding throughout and still seemed to have a lot of life in Jan ‘26. Deep, dark, sweet fruit, edges may have rounded over time but maintains a gentle acidity and earthy finish. Raspberry, tart cherry, plummy finish, a depth that few other WH North Slopes have. Wish I had more. — 2 months ago
Garnet red, very good clarity, moderate to high pigment extraction. Luscious red fruit initially with a touch of black fruit on the finish. Light acid, good body, not too alcoholic. After 30 minutes caramel with a touch of eucalyptus and cola emerge while cherry recedes and blackberry undercurrent remains. 24 hours later, fruit flavors integrate with barrel flavors: cranberry, caramel, cherry and eucalyptus cough syrup. Nice complexity but decant to get there, requires patience. Moderate skin astringency on finish may lose some people but it adds to the complexity favorably for me. — 4 months ago
Wallula Vineyards, Horse Heaven Hills. Winery tasting notes mention Bing cherry, blueberry, citrus and sage flavors. Not sure I get the floral character on the initial pour. Dark red, high pigment extraction. Tannins are fine grained and mostly seed tannins initially though skin astringency starts emerging after 15 minutes. Elegant. Bright acidity. Some white pepper finish. A perennial favorite for me, with less herbal expression than some previous vintages, but there is definitely sage going on. 24 hours later, the fruit is fully forward, tannins mellowed, with brightness intact. — 2 months ago

2023 vintage. Medium heavy body. Plushy frontal fruit. Spicy denouement. Pinot not Pinot. Exactly what this is iz questionable but it is delicious. And then the Chards come out at night…3.25.26. — 10 days ago
