At Flying Goat, the goal is to produce unpretentious, playful wines while retaining a serious quality focus and commitment to a purity of expression from single-vineyard sites such as the Solomon Hills Vineyard, Bien Nacido Vineyard, Rancho Santa Rosa, to name a few.
This intention is reinforced by everything from the whimsical labels (Flying Goat, Goat Bubbles, YNOT), to the critical acclaim Flying Goat Cellars has garnered for its impressive wines, to the impeccably balanced and delicious Pinot Noir and vintage, traditional method sparkling wines.
This 2016 blanc de noirs sparkler — made with Pinot Noir hailing from the Bien Nacido Vineyard — is medium gold in appearance, with a fine and creamy mousse, and fresh notes of just-ripe yellow apple, pear, white peach, lemon zest, citrus blossom, biscuit, toast, brioche, toasted almond, and marzipan. It has a lingering, elegant finish.

Just as delicious as I remember it. Can distinctly taste the black cherry. It is delightful to taste the actual description of the wine. Definitely on the sweeter side. — 6 years ago
Lives up to its name. Maraschino cherries on the nose. Bright, soft, mild acidity, great with a chill on it - would be perfect on a warm spring afternoon. — 7 years ago
2023. This vintage has a touch more savory, mineral funk than the last two and I like it paired with garden tomato caprese crostini. (Even better after a night in the fridge as the funk mellowed a little bit and some orchard fruit flavors emerged. Paired great with miso-marinated sesame-crusted seared tuna filets.) — 2 months ago

2023. Weird weather night (tornadoes and hail south of us, winter storms north), so we decided to stay in and just see what we had available. Ended up with a couple nice cheese and meat plates. This Pet Nat had been in the beer fridge since the holidays, and its waiting time was over. Aggressive and persistent bubbles that worked so well with the rich cheese and salty meats and olives. Not too complex, just refreshing. — 8 months ago

Ripe black fruit aromas, a definite texture with the medium body, tart fruit and light acidity with some soft lingering spices. Deliciously drinkable. Happy Valentine's Day 💗 — 5 years ago

Excellent wine
Comes out with a lot of spice and depth out of the bottle and a bit tannic.
With some air time - we just did glass and open bottle - it mellowed and was excellent paired with steak and potatoes. — 7 months ago

2020. I did something I don’t normally do and Googled potential wine pairings for a dish of Pumpkin Tagliatelle with Kale, Autumn Frost Squash, and Lamb Meatballs garnished with Crispy Sage and Brown Butter. AI recommended wines included low tannin/high acid reds, rich Rhône whites, and orange wines. This skin ferment Roussanne paired great! Glad to be getting something beneficial from all of the data centers around here… — 5 days ago
