Deep and savory. Brooding blue and black fruit. Black pepper, black olives, and eucalyptus. Moderate acidity. Polished but still thoughtful. — 8 months ago

Man, what a treat. Awesome, long finish & incredible balance. This has a great, peppery, cola nose. What a find thru TastingMerchants.com. — 7 years ago

Tulocay

Haynes Vineyard Chardonnay 2016

My favorite wine Bill and his daughter make. Exuberant, balanced, handmade. Great reference for Coombsville CH, lively spine, just ripe pommaceous fruit, orange oil, peach blossom, contrasted by baking spice, deft oak, creamy lees, vanilla and fresh brioche dough. Generous on the palate, not top-heavy at all. — 8 years ago

Just wow sometimes. This and the Haynes are the two best Chardonnay's from Ehren. Super complex. — 9 years ago

Equally as great as the Corazon and also a bit more approachable at this point. Buy or try it. I can secure some for you, just reach out. — 7 months ago

Brosseau Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

Didn’t quite reach the hight’s of the Haynes in 2019. No formal notes but trust me these wines taste like white burgs with a touch more fruit at 1/3 of the price. 12.8%. Just 750 bottles made. 2 barrels? — 2 years ago

Turley

Old Vines California Zinfandel 2013

I love all things Turley and this is no exception. The Old Vines Zin is made from smaller plots that can’t produce enough for single vineyard bottlings but are by no means inferior. Along with the Juvenile, it is also Turley’s most accessible Zin in terms of price and drink-ability on release. But it can age well as this bottle of ‘13 opened in fall ‘20 showed — tons of dark fruit, graphite, glycerin and a long spicy finish. Love to drink this while I let my Haynes age. — 6 years ago

That’s sausage and peppers in the background. And onions. And shallots. And mushrooms. I had some zucchini too, gotta throw that in there. I had a croissant as well. That’s what 70 miles on a bike will do to your appetite. — 7 years ago

Corazon Chardonnay 2020

This is a ridiculous amazing bottle of American. Chardonnay! It has all you want acid, salinity, fruit, touch of barrel. Would love to revisit this bottle in 5 years. Haynes Vineyard is for real, find, taste and hold the bottles all are spectacular. — 7 months ago

Haynes Vineyard Old Vine Chardonnay 2019

Very few reviews on this. Mostly distributed via e-mail list. No formal notes but this was quite outstanding. Mark Enfield makes the best Chards in the US. Very much like white Burghs. 1200 bottles made so about 3 barrels. Sorry no formal tasting notes. 13.2%. — 2 years ago

Citrine California Chardonnay 2018

There’s an awful lot to like here for @$30. Beautiful ample nose of ripe pear and tart apple. Round, rich attack in the mouth, more weight than anticipated. Very pleasant to pop and pour... drinks very well already. ABV listed at 12.9, the wine shows nice acid/fruit balance and little noticeable oak.. I assume barrrels were 2 or 3 year old. Grapes from four very good vineyards..Rorick Heritage, Heron Lake, Haynes Old Vine, and Brousseau. Nice partner tonight for Veal Piccata and simple cheesy fettuccini. — 6 years ago

Tulocay

Haynes Vineyard Syrah 2009

Starts of with a lovely frenchie funk on the nose, then opens into dusty plum, blackberry bramble, anise, violet, dried shiitake, and other delightful intangibles. Took a little bit to open up, but it just reminds me why I love Tulocay and Coombsville so much. — 8 years ago
