Not a great zin but not bad for a sipper. Probably by another. — 5 months ago
Cassis and oak - the latter quite noticeable. From a ripe year where the fruit should be apparent but at the moment the oak dominates - mocha notes, but then again still has a huge future. Amazing what a solid core of self contained full body this has for 16 years of age, but still of profound intensity - dark chocolate and black currant. Will go on for literally decades - only have 2 left. Penfolds “Rewards of Patience “ say through to 2050! That is not as crazy as it sounds. This wine is close to immortal Next one in 10 years. — 2 years ago
Vintage 1989 | for me an obscure domaine, it caught my attention at an auction. I do love ripened Chenin Blanc, which sometimes seems immortal. So I thought: give it a try. The wine was sent from France. Lovely ripened colour, old gold. Shy smell, good taste that combines honey and bitters. The cuvée is ‘moelleux’ but very good balance with the acids. Paired good with rilettes and pheasant pâté. — a year ago
Outstanding. At Derek's. — 2 years ago
Let’s face it…drinking any vintage of @domperignonofficial rosé is an incredible experience ~ and there are some serious arguments for 2008 to be the best ~ at the least I can tell you when I popped a cork the other night it was one of the most complete wines I drank all year ~ almost pointless to try and name all the fruits, flowers, herbal, savory and mineral aromatics & flavors ~ probably more important to mention the breadth of palate and gorgeous mousse balanced by focused acidity and energy w near immortal length 🍾🙌 — 3 years ago

What a special treat to have an entire flight dedicated to the one and only Noël Verset. All three wines were opened prior to dinner and serially enjoyed over the course of a few hours. Stylistically, all three wines were similar and most importantly, sound! The 1998 pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with ripe and slightly desiccated, wild red bramble berries, dried purple flowers, cracked black pepper, black olive, garrigue, spiced meat, coffee, old leather bound books, exotic eastern spices and inorganic earth and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Bro…this bottle left me speechless. It has all of the things I could possibly want in Cornas plus, it has the staying power of Barry White. For me, this was the wine of the flight (and WOTN), overshadowing the more heralded 1999 and giving more than the relatively demure 1992. Drink now through (???). This has the characteristics of an immortal. — 2 hours ago
