Château Clinet 2023 – Pomerol. BDX France 🇫🇷

Overview
A beautifully composed Pomerol delivering charm, polish, and unmistakable aristocratic poise, driven by a 70% Merlot-dominant blend with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon support. The wine balances generous fruit with refined structure, showing approachability without sacrificing depth or pedigree, making it both immediately pleasurable and quietly serious.

Aromas & Flavors
Black cherry, ripe plum, blueberry compote, violets, cocoa powder, crushed gravel, subtle truffle nuance, sweet spice and gentle cedar.

Mouthfeel
Medium-plus body with a plush, silky entry, finely grained tannins, excellent mid-palate cohesion, integrated acidity, and a long, smooth finish that glides with elegance and restraint.

Food Pairings
Roast duck, veal tenderloin, mushroom risotto, herb-crusted lamb, truffle pasta, aged Comté or Brie de Meaux.

Verdict
A charming yet aristocratic Pomerol that delivers immediate pleasure with refined balance and textural finesse. It communicates confidence through polish rather than power, making it an excellent expression of Pomerol elegance.

🍷 Personal Pick
This is a wine that wins you over quietly, candid, friendly, effortlessly drinkable, yet undeniably noble at its core. The kind of bottle that feels comforting and sophisticated at the same time, with a personality that invites conversation and repeat pours.

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

First meeting of monthly wine group and everyone came to play.

Nose: areomatics draw you in with ripe dark fruit, floral, forest floor, truffles. Taste: Elegant, silky, balanced wine with cherry, smoke, toast, earth, and a medium plus plum/cedar/chocolate finish. YUM!!

Château L'Evangile

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Very dark purple ink robe, nose of cedar wood, top soil, flowers and cherries, with a touch of spices. Its high octane but light on its feet, less complex than the usual as it has no cabernet franc. Frankly long and very complex, an excellent Evangile, that is very drinkable now but has a lot of potential. A few pros noted the marked wood tannins during the futures tastings, here its well integrated and will probably be better in a few years. — 10 days ago

A high quality price ratio wine! Very approachable with soft tannins, dark fruit and sundry oak influences that make for a nice wine. This bottle cost less than $30!! — 10 days ago

Its peak is slowly declining, drink now. The wine is still pretty incredible. It’s balanced with decadent fruit, medium body, med alcohol, completely integrated tannins, and a long black plum finish. — 15 days ago

Popped and poured while I prep dinner. Nice medley of red and dark fruit, with bitter tobacco leaf and soil. Well balanced, juicy and chewy and very good.

Château Lafleur

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 1995

Beautiful wine that I have never tried before. Still very lively for being 31 years old with a strong tannic backbone. Drunk blind I was convinced this was a Barolo 🤦...didnt cover myself in glory with that guess! Served with steak, bernaise and french fries — a month ago

31 years and, I assume based on your guess , still strong tannin structure. Merlot continues to amaze and surprise.
